Could be, if the vote doesn't go their way in November the NHL could just gut the team & have a dispersal draft again....

Fill me in, what locations were they considering? Seattle is looking to build a new NBA/NHL arena, although I'm not sure how well-supported a team would actually be. I think most of the people in the area who actually follow hockey are Canucks fans, or support the teams they grew up following if they relocated from elsewhere.

Interesting article. Disperse the team, and then go ahead and expand with two teams (one in Seattle and one in Quebec City) and get twice the money (entry fees) rather than just the one fee to relocate.

Since ATL became the Jets, it wouldn't really make sense to ship the Coyotes back to Canada unless you did something complicated like send the Jets to Quebec and renamed them the Nordiques, thereby allowing the Coyotes to become the Jets again. I think your idea might just be the better one, GF.

Or...instead of moving a franchise that doesn't have to you they could move the Coyotes to Quebec....

My thoughts too.
I don't know about the Quebec City...although if Seattle wants a team of their own and not a relocation it makes sense to do a dispersal draft for a year or two and then an expansion when Seattle gets their own team

Oh. I thought this thread was going to be about the Dept of Interior coming and getting rid of all the coyotes in NC.
Guess I'll just keep shooting the nasty things.

That would make too much sense. It would be too easy to move the Coyotes to Quebec and rename them the Nordiques.

The problem with that is that the Coyotes would make more sense in Winnipeg. That's using Raiders logic, but there it is....

Why would they make more sense? A team is a team.

That's not using logic at all. What you are suggesting makes no sense at this time.
If Winnipeg didn't already have a team maybe you would have a point. On the other hand, maybe Winnipeg would rather have a new franchise than have the return of a franchise that left them years ago.

Ask Baltimore, BH. I would venture to say that they'd MUCH rather have the Dolts back than the bloody Ravens, which are really the Browns in disguise. Oh, "officially," they're a separate franchise, but they have the same ownership and used the same players until turnover took care of that.

I know a few Ravens fans. They are happy to have a team in Baltimore. They wish the Colts had never left, but they are happy to have the Ravens. I don't know anyone in Baltimore wishing for the Colts franchise to return.
Try again.
