So it's not official yet until the MLB owners approve it but the local media is saying that indications are that this won't get held up like the Moorad deal did. More rumors also include that the new owners demanded that the current GM sign Carlos Quentin and Huston Street if they wanted this sale to go through at Moores asking price.
It took longer than expected, but the sale of the Padres to a group headed by heirs of the former owners of the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego business and civic leader Ron Fowler and professional golfer Phil Mickelson was completed Monday night.

Thank Jesus, Moores couldn't get the fuck outta here any faster so we can get a real owner who actually gives a shit about winning.
The Padres also have won 4 straight (ok so 3 are against the pathetic Cubs but at this point I'll take it). Hopefully this is an omen about things to come.

This bodes well for the future, but begs the question of why they didn't go after the Dodgers.

Well, they probably paid less than half what the Dodgers went for.

Yes, there is that. But it ALSO bodes well that they insisted on signing a decent closer.

Dude went from the worst pitchers park to the best pitchers park. I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Padres are selling for about $800M. The 2009 (or 2010?) Moorad sell agreement was considerably less at about $500M. I heard someone say they rejected the Moorad deal because it was too low. No idea if that is true or not but the Padres recently got a better TV deal that significantly boosted their value. Moores is laughing all the way to the bank...and so is his ex-wife.

That was a good dump on the Padres behalf. He struggled to get dominating closes in Petco the last couple years he was here, I am not surprised that he fell apart outside of Petco.

Yeah. And once it became official another losing streak was promptly started.
