Now if they realize that they have black athletes as well as white ones we can get the ball rolling.Hopefully with the emergence of Anaso Jobodwana black South Africans will voice their thoughts on this subject. The American media made Oscar Pistorius a overnight sensation but he failed to accomplish anything.BlueHen86 wrote:Yes
Your assessment was supported by Ato Boldon ,on twitter he also said this is a strong possibility.A young lady of South African origin say hello to Noni Mkwenkweni ,stated on twitter that Jamaica better watch themselves ,in the future because the land of Nelson Mandela, is gunning for their crown as the new sprint powerhouse.Uncle Sam better do the same thing. She was talking with Anaso Jobodwana ,saying that he made his fellow South Africans proud ,with his sprinting exploits as stated before ,he could do what Oscar Pistorius ,has not done so far become the first man ,on SA history win an Olympic medal.I think in another four yrs this will ,be a strong possibility he could medal, in the 100/200m and anchor their 4x100 relay team.Grizalltheway wrote:If they can successfully host a world cup, I don't see why the couldn't handle the Games. Would like to see it be in Cape Town over J-Burg, though.
They are improving, 8 out of 32 athletes at the 2012 London games appeared to be black South Africans.dal4018 wrote:Now if they realize that they have black athletes as well as white ones we can get the ball rolling.Hopefully with the emergence of Anaso Jobodwana black South Africans will voice their thoughts on this subject. The American media made Oscar Pistorius a overnight sensation but he failed to accomplish anything.
25% yeah that is something to be proud of as opposed to 75%!!!!!!!!!!!! how about even steven 50%.I personally saw two black athletes where were the other six??????One of the two made history by making the 200m finals the aforementioned Anaso Jobodwana.Gil Dobie wrote:They are improving, 8 out of 32 athletes at the 2012 London games appeared to be black South Africans.dal4018 wrote:Now if they realize that they have black athletes as well as white ones we can get the ball rolling.Hopefully with the emergence of Anaso Jobodwana black South Africans will voice their thoughts on this subject. The American media made Oscar Pistorius a overnight sensation but he failed to accomplish anything.
Not enough melanin.dbackjon wrote:dal - why do you dislike Oscar Pistorus?
It's a lot better than when I was young. It would have been all white in the 1980's. Progress doesn't come at the snap of your fingers. It takes time to change a society, it took America almost 200 years for equal rights to start, and it's still progressing here.dal4018 wrote:25% yeah that is something to be proud of as opposed to 75%!!!!!!!!!!!! how about even steven 50%.I personally saw two black athletes where were the other six??????One of the two made history by making the 200m finals the aforementioned Anaso Jobodwana.Gil Dobie wrote:

I have nothing against, Pistorius it's that all the attention ,he got but accomplished nothing there, were other athletes that were more deserving of media attention than he was.The media focused upon him simply because of his medical disorder.Yes it was amazing to see him, compete vs able body athletes but he blew his chance to advance to the 400 final by running a high school like time of 46.54 in his semi-final race.I was personally hoping ,that he made the final just to see how he would have faired ,against those other guys was hoping for a sub 45 in the area of 44.7/44.9.He had a chance to make history, by becoming the first man in South African history to make a Olympic final. As stated before that honor went to Anaso Jobodwana a fellow South African.I'am not the only person who felt that he received too much media attention.dbackjon wrote:dal - why do you dislike Oscar Pistorus?

It's been over two to three decades and they haven't realized that there are black athletes in this country???What has taken them so long???Gil Dobie wrote:It's a lot better than when I was young. Maybe they currently have other priorities, like feeding the population or education. Just reading a few blurbs, life expectancy is around 50 years. I don't think the sports system in South Africa is very well developed yet, outside of soccer or the white population.dal4018 wrote:It's been over two to three decades and they haven't realized that there are black athletes in this country???What has taken them so long???Gil Dobie wrote:

Then as usual it will be up to the black ppl over there to make a way for themselves to show the world that black athletic does exist in the land of there ancestors.None of their white counterparts showed their faces on the medal podium. The only athlete from South Africa that I believe got on the podium was Castor Semenya their world class 800m specialist who had her gender brought into question.I think she got silver.Other than her all ppl talked about was Pistorius.Gil Dobie wrote:Maybe they currently have other priorities, like feeding the population or education. Pistorius didn't accomplish anything but be born without leg bones and be nearly world class with prosthetics. No, he didn't win anything, but neither did the Saudi woman you mentioned that you want to honor for her accomplishment. Pistorius was a feel good story - NBC (a US network) is going to focus on stories like that, Lolo Jones, and profiles and performances primarily of US athletes. They can't seem to get enough of Gabby Douglas.dal4018 wrote:Then as usual it will be up to the black ppl over there to make a way for themselves to show the world that black athletic does exist in the land of there ancestors.None of their white counterparts showed their faces on the medal podium. The only athlete from South Africa that I believe got on the podium was Castor Semenya their world class 800m specialist who had her gender brought into question.I think she got silver.Other than her all ppl talked about was Pistorius.Gil Dobie wrote:

Griz what is wrong with Johannesburg?!?!?Grizalltheway wrote:If they can successfully host a world cup, I don't see why the couldn't handle the Games. Would like to see it be in Cape Town over J-Burg, though.
Yes but that Saudi Arabian woman got her fifteen minutes of fame and that was basically it didn't hear anything else about her and what she had to endure just to get where she was.I get the reasons behind the attention Pistorius garnered but he didn't live up to the hype was expecting him to make a WIDE OPEN 400 final!!!!!ASUG8 wrote:Pistorius didn't accomplish anything but be born without leg bones and be nearly world class with prosthetics. You don't have to look to see blacks heavily represented in sports - they sweep the sprints, and the Ethiopians/Kenyans are consistently the middle distance and marathon winners both Olympian and US marathon circuits. Maybe we can jump in to their representation on team USA basketball, college and NFL football, etc. For having ~10% of the US population black people are pretty well represented in sports.
Get over it and stop using slavery as a crutch. THis is why black people are stunted in America and hated by blacks in other countries. I've met many Africans and European blacks, they have nothing good to say about American blacks.dal4018 wrote:Clenz if I'am it's because I had two centuries of learning thanks to your ancestors.clenz wrote:Dal....you may be the most racist **** on here

You clearly have no idea of living conditions, sanitation and crime in Johannesburg. Hey, how about we have the next Olympics in Compton!dal4018 wrote:Griz what is wrong with Johannesburg?!?!?Grizalltheway wrote:If they can successfully host a world cup, I don't see why the couldn't handle the Games.
