Senior third-string quarterback Erin DiMeglio became the first girl to play the position in the history of Florida HS athletics last month when she entered South Plantation's 31-14 win over Nova with 1:40 left. It wasn't much; she handed off twice out of the Shotgun before she was replaced.
The next in the sorority started by Tami Maida. Now it's time for DiMeglio to throw the ball....

EDIT: Apparently HuffPo's reporter didn't pay much attention to the game. There is Youtube footage of DiMeglio directing an entire drive that went from roughly her own teams 20 to the other team's 30 before South Plantation turned the ball over on downs. DiMeglio was 2-of-3 through the air with a first down. They got another one when her running back busted one for 20.

It's HORRIBLE that an Arizonan would poke fun of the best offensive football player ever to come out of the state.
