World Series 2012

Now, after two amazing LCS... one who proved that the Yankees need some new blood, and the other one going the distance in an epic pitching battle towards the end of the series...

Who's your team now?

Detroit with their Triple Crown winner in Cabrera and their consistent ace in Verlander?
or San Francisco with their better hitting team and better pitchers?

This Series will be a pitcher's duel I believe, but Detroit can wear the Giants pitchers out. Tigers in 5 or 6.

If the Giants' bats can stay hot than who knows. I think the Tigers' pitching will be too much but that's why they play the game.

Also the Tigers have been off a while, but heard the announcers saying they played some scrimmages against one of their minor league teams to stay on top of their game.

The Giants start off on the wrong foot because they had to use Cain in Game 7 of the NLCS. But the Tigers are screwing the pooch if they follow through with their plans to use a mediocre #4 starter in Game 4, which has traditionally been the middle game of a three-game set for the ace. It should be Verlander in 1, 4, and 7. The Giants can't pull that off with Cain, but they MIGHT be able to do it with Vogelsong, who's almost as good.

Looking forward to the WS this year! Tigers peaking at the right time, but so are the Giants. I'll say Detroit in 6.

That mediocre number 4 starter went 16-7 this year with 231 strike outs.

I'll go with the Tigers in a long series.

Tigers of course. Chuckled at the mediocre starter in game 4, second in the AL in K's. Tigers have the better starting pitching, Giants have the bullpen. Tigers have the power and Giants have the small ball game, but in the World Series the opposite can happen. I like the Tigers having Verlander in 1, 5 and 7. 5 & 7 were key games for Mickey Lolich and the 1968 Tigers. I would like to see Prince put one or more in the bay.

That would be pretty sweet.

Um, try again, AA. That 16-7 starter is their #2 guy in this series. The #3 guy has a losing record with only 9 wins, and the #4 is something like 10-10.

:dunce:

No kidding. Giants bats stay hot and they get all the lucky bounces on top of that. Tigers may be in trouble here.

Try again my ass.

Doug Fister (10-10 this season) is pitching tonight.
Anibal Sanchez (4-6 with the Tigers this year, 9-13 overall), is starting game 3.
Max Scherzer (16-7 this season), is starting game 4.

You may now take your dunce cap and sit in the corner.

I don't know where you saw THAT, AA. The projected start list I saw in the paper the other day had Scherzer starting #2.

They announced it several days ago. It's the same rotation they used in the previous playoff series.

If he does, it'll be all on Detroit. After THAT whalloping, they'd be stupid not to give him the four-pitch pass at every opportunity....

He's a fastball hitter and guess what Detroit threw him last night, fastballs. If the Tigers win tonight, that's what they wanted, a split in San Fran. If not, the road does get tougher. The good news, Delmon Young will not be in the field in Detroit. That had to be the worst throw from left field that I have ever seen.

Maybe Young will be forced into retirement!!!!
