Hacksaw mentioned this on the drive home tonight. Apparently, this is no big thing for Philly since they actually had a better record last year with Ruiz on the bench than they did with him in the lineup, despite his .325 batting average.

Very misleading stat.

When Chooch was healthy, many other guys, like Utley and Howard, were out.
When the rest of the team got healthy, Chooch had some injuries.

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me very much. Hacksaw has a way of making stuff up off the top of his head when he doesn't know what he's talking about. I made the mistake of calling him one day while I was at Camp Pendleton (or maybe it was Twentynine Palms), and he couldn't even get the name of Charles Roberts right.
