Police are investigating two deadly shootings Saturday morning that they said are related.
The shootings involve a Chiefs player and his girlfriend.
The first shooting was reported about 8 a.m. at a home near East 54th Terrace and Crysler Avenue. The second shooting was reported a short time later at a Chiefs practice facility located on the Arrowhead facility.
Officials said the Chiefs player shot and killed his girlfriend and then drove to the practice facility where he shot and killed himself.
Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher fatally shot his girlfriend early Saturday, then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and committed suicide in front of his coach and general manager after first thanking them for everything they had done for him, police said.
Authorities did not immediately release a possible motive for the murder-suicide, which stunned the team and came one day before a home game against the Carolina Panthers. The NFL said the game would go on as scheduled.
Belcher was a 25-year-old native of West Babylon, N.Y., on Long Island, played college ball at Maine. He had played all four of his NFL seasons for the Chiefs and played in every game each year, including the 11 so far this season.

Chiefs LBer Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend in KC today following an argument, then went to the team practice facility and killed himself in the parking lot in front of his head coach and GM today. He was 25 years old, and a former player at UMAINE.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
Man, a coworker and friend of my mom's just had her 15 year old son shoot himself in front of her a couple of days before Thanksgiving. Shit like this is just mind-boggling.

Will be interesting to find out exactly what the motivation was. Wonder if the kid was really his? That would be some crazy news for someone to tell you.
