"I've talked to some people in Washington, D.C. Some people in [Griffin's] press conferences. Some people I've known for a long time. My question, which is just a straight, honest question, is ... is he a 'brother,' or is he a cornball 'brother?' He's not really ... he's black, but he's not really down with the cause. He's not one of us. He's kind of black, but he's not really like the guy you'd want to hang out with..."

I was told that it was impossible to be a black racist by a member of this site.

That makes it worse! Parker is a racist prick.

I just asked my black cubemate and he has no idea what a "Cornball Brother" is.

I got banned by Ralph once for arguing that blacks can be racist. He didn't think so. Which is racists in itself. :dunce:

Maybe he needs to act dumber & talk in ebonics? Seriously, not "black enough".

In all honesty, there are smart "fill in your race" people, and dumb "fill in your race" people. The person(s) making this statement fall into the dumb pile.

This really should be a much bigger deal than it is. The double standard in this country is pretty ridiculous. And this coming from just about the biggest liberal on the planet.

ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said: "Following yesterday's comments, Rob Parker has been suspended until further notice. We are conducting a full review."

If he was white would he have been "just" suspended or would he have been fired on the spot?

Rob Parker will not be losing his job with ESPN for his comments calling Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III a "cornball brother," during a discussion about race. Instead, he's being suspended for 30 days before he can return to work.

This is the funniest thing I have ever seen. Now they have set a precedent for anyone to talk bad about race without worry about their job.

Sure took ESPN long enough.

Rob Parker, the commentator who created controversy when he questioned whether Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is a “cornball brother” because he has a white fiancee, has been fired by ESPN.

I'm not so sure this is an actual termination, as it's being described, though under other circumstances, it could easily have resulted in that. I know this is a semantic argument, but according to the article I read yesterday, his contract ended 31 DEC and was merely not renewed. If that's the case, they did him a favor, as he won't have to list a termination on his resume. Had they immediately canned him instead of suspending him, then he'd be in a bigger mess than he is now.

Just my opinion. Naturally, you don't have to accept it. ;-)

Based on what?

Based on where modern techniques are I would be shocked if he goes bust because of his knee coming off of surgery.

Heck, a good chunk of sports fans know just as much about the knee at this point as medical personnel 30-40 years ago.

Extent of injury, rehab time. He will attempt a comeback in a year or two, but will be a shell of himself.

I wouldn't count on him in 2013.
