Last report I saw said that Norv IS gone.
Additionally, GMs are getting the axe, too, particularly that idiot A.J. Smith and the punk in NYJ who abetted Ryan in his lies....

The owner said they needed a change hey this guy made the Cards relevant in the NFL getting to the SB vs Pittsburgh.Whizenhunt wasn't the problem it was the play of the QB and the O-Line.Fitzgerald is in quicksand playing for this franchise.

Always thought Norv was a better assistant than head coach.

Agreed too much of a laid back attitude.

Rex is still employed b/c Tebow asked God to intervene. Tebow and God play Bridge every Tuesday.

He is, he spent the past 6 years proving it. Norv AND AJ are finally gone. I can care about the Chargers once again. Norv will find a job somewhere. He is great with developing QB's and I think being an OC/QB coach is where he belongs. AJ will never find a front office job in the NFL ever again. Worst GM as far as treating people professionally. Both needed to go.

Yeah I heard Smith and Schotteinheimer hated each other.

AJ also chased away a lot of quality talent. Getting rid of him was essential for the Chargers to start a rebuild.

That's true.
The most egregious was Junior Seau, who was local grown at Oceanside, which alienated a LOT of local fans. That was exacerbated by the fact that he played another DECADE at a very high level after Smith said he was done, including at least one Super Bowl.
The next was jettisoning both Drew Brees and Doug Flutie AT THE SAME TIME to get to Phillip Rivers, who has been absolutely HORRIBLE. It is quite apparent that Rivers will never get the Chargers to the Super Bowl, while Brees has done nothing but mature into a HOF-caliber quarterback with New Orleans, ALSO including a Super Bowl. Flutie was declared the greatest CFL player of all time by TSN and is the first import to be inducted into the Canadian Sports HOF. He also had a fairly creditable NFL career, at least when his coaches gave him a chance to perform. Flutie was also inducted into the US College Football HOF and the Canadian Football HOF.
It was DEFINITELY past time for the arrogant Smith to go.

Saw a report that Miami is putting feelers out to Cowher despite the fact that they haven't fired the current coach yet.
Is that ethical?

Seau did not play at a high level for another decade. He was a role player who saw limited action in certain situations and served mainly as a ploy to sell tickets. He was a free agent, got no interest from anyone and retired. After his retirement party NE picked him up as they were the only ones who saw value in him.
Brees was a FA coming off of shoulder surgery and Flutie was well past his prime. The decision to go with Rivers was fine as he proved to be more than capable at leading the offense. Brees would have seen nowhere near as much action or chances to throw the ball even if the Chargers stuck with him due to the different philosophy the Chargers had compared against the Saints.
God some of the shit you post is just completely off. I'm on the edge of going all clenzy on your ass right now.

Last I heard, he was interviewing in Cleveland. Not sure about the viability of THAT one, either....
