Jets Holding Tebow Hostage

I really don't have any idea WHY NYJ is doing this, but Hacksaw's High-Speed Sportswire reported yesterday that the Jets are flat out refusing to trade or release Tim Tebow. They've already refused to play him. Why are they destroying a young man's career?

Jets have nothing to do with destroying his career.

Tebow should have made a better decision. Bad move, Tebow. What's in it for the Jets to release him? They'll hold out as long as they can to see if someone will give them something for him. If no one wants him, then they'll release him. It's called business.

There is no team that is interested in him and they know it.

It's part of God's plan.

God loves Tim Tebow and doesn't want to see him get hurt, so He's keeping someplace where he won't play.

God also loves football, so He is keeping Tebow someplace where he won't play.

It could be just spin, ASU, but the way Hacksaw phrased it, it sure didn't sound like there was any intent to guage Tebow's viability on the trade market with the intent of either dealing him or cutting him if a deal hasn't emerged past a certain point. It truly sounded like an adamant refusal to even consider either. Again, it COULD just be spin to keep everyone guessing.

Prior to Hacksaw's report, the rumor mill had Tebow going to AZ. We all know what happened the last time a supposedly "washed up" QB went to the Cards....

Please don't insult the game of football by comparing Tebow to Kurt Warner. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

Here's a question for you SH. If Tebow were an atheist or devil worshipper, would you think he's a good QB (read QB, not football player)?

SE: You seem to be the only one around here who even gives Tebow THAT much. They're liars, of course, or else just plain ignorant about football.

To answer your question: After what I saw in the Pittsburgh playoff game, I'd accept him as a talented QUARTERBACK regardless of affiliation. Naturally, I like him better as a man because he IS a Christian, but that doesn't enter into the football question very much.

Many other reporting outlets have reported that the Jets are open to trading him, and would prefer that option. Why would they pay him and not play him? Step back to reality.

You've said a lot of stupid shit....and I mean a-fucking-lot.

This statement may take the fucking cake though.

Warner through for more TD's in a season 6 times in his career than Tebow has total passing TD's career right now.

The years he didn't he didn't play more than 10 games in any of them.

Warner had a fucking 65% completion % for his career, and lowest was 58.5 and second lowest was 63% in seasons he attempted at least 20 passes. In seasons where Warner attemped at least 100 his lowest is 63%

Outside of both are white Christian males there is NO FUCKING WAY to compare the two.

My favorite measure I've come across is this one, from pro-football-reference.com

the Approximate Value (AV) method is an attempt to put a single number on the seasonal value of a player at any position from any year (since 1950). (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/?page_id=518" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Kurt Warner's AV is 112 which, out of every player in the NFL since 1950, puts Kurt Warner in 202nd place....

Tim Tebow's AV is 12 which, out of every player in the NFL since 1950, puts Tim Tebow in 6,363rd...

God can't be real......God doesn't allow people to be this fucking stupid/naive.

To say someone is washed up implies that they were good in the first place.

And just because a QB had a good game or two means squat. Having been a Cardinals Fan for decades, and having seen the revolving door at QB, I can attest to great games by John Skelton, Tom Tupa, Matt Leinart, etc - none who are good QBs
