The Dallas Cowboys and veteran quarterback Tony Romo have reached agreement on a "blockbuster" six-year extension that will make Romo the highest-paid player in Cowboys' history, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Romo's new deal with the Cowboys is worth $108 million and includes $55 million in guaranteed money.

I'm disgusted that Romo/Jones would ruin the Cowboys in the same way that's happening to Baltimore.

Um...no SE.
As bad as Jones is with personnel decisions (all the way back to his bogus decisions to fire the best head coach and the best quarterback in NFL history), I have heard NO reports that he's tried to influence strategy and tactics on the part of the coaching staff OR that he's planted bugs in the opposing locker room.
Davis was originally very good with personnel decisions (his '70s era free agent/trade acquisitions of players many thought were toast was epic; see Blanda/Plunkett/Alzado/Hendricks), though he stuck with his insistence on the vertical game WAY too long. His ability, however, decreased rather markedly with age. Jones, on the other hand, NEVER had the touch, though he claims he does.

Re: Romo now highest paid Cowboy - EVER
Makes sense he is the highest paid ever. Because 10-20 years ago the salaries wouldn't have been so high. They think they have a franchise QB so they paid him like one. If Aikman were playing today he would be the highest paid Cowboy ever.

Jones wasn't the one that ended White's career, Landry was… seeing as Landry benched him more than a year before he retired.SuperHornet wrote:Um...no SE.

I will pile on Jones for some of his recent personnel decisions, though. He pays all this money to Romo, yet doesn't seem too interested in giving him an O-Line that won't get him killed.

Re: Romo now highest paid Cowboy - EVER
I've always been a fan of the idea of having a quarterback hold for placements. That said, it was botched efforts like these that forever sealed Romo's fate in my book. (It's eerie how similar these plays are.) The whole point of having a quarterback in these situations is that they're supposed to be able to handle the ball better than a punter or anyone else for that matter when there's a bad snap. His penchant for fumbling the snap and then immediately trying to get it in himself rather than calling FIRE and looking for an open receiver disqualifies him from this important duty from the get-go....

IMO, he can stay there for another 10 years. That way, I won't ever have to listen to the asshole Cowboy fans puffing out their chests and bragging about another championship.grizfnz wrote:Title needs to be changed to:
