Manny Turns Down $25M

The MANRAM has turned down the Dogers offer of $25 million for one year...but the Dogers and asshole Boros are scheduled to talk some more...

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/r ... ers_e.html

Best part of the attached article comes from the Dodgers owner Frank McCourt...
"Two things are clear to me," McCourt told MLB.com Tuesday. "We very much want the player back and we're trying hard. We came up with what we thought was a creative proposal to give him a lot of money, and well deserved in a challenging economy, and give him flexibility if he feels it's important to test free agency next year. I don't see long-term contracts happening in this market we're in.

"The other thing is, the agent [Boras] is challenging to work with and we've tried hard. We've made three efforts and we still have not received a specific number from the agent, and I don't know what to tell you. At some point, you have to move on and start to get ready to win a championship."

Has anyone told Manny that there's an economic situation going on right now...

He has got to be on drugs or his head has grown so damn big that he is currently smelling his own farts. What is he thinking. In this economy he was lucky to get the 1-25m and the 2-45m with an option for a third offers and he threw them both back in their faces. He wants 100m for 4 years...he ain't gonna get it.

Manny will do whatever Scott tells him too. Manny can look at Jason Varitek as a perfect example of Boras' genius.

I would tell him to go jump in Lake Michigan and go for a quick 5 mile swim.

At least my Yankees aren't pursuing him.

And what a tool for declining offers. I know a player that'd take $1 million year, let alone $20-$40.

You never know... Abreu is out the door... perhaps the Yanks are willing to blow what's left of their load to reunite Damon and Manny... then again... I could never see Manny abiding by the Hair/facial hair clause.

Cashman: Yanks are done spending:
NEW YORK -- Manny Ramirez's potential pinstripes debut and Brian Cashman's first book as an author have one thing in common. Neither will happen in 2009.

Rumor Alert: Manny has been offered a 4 year deal around 88 million bucks. Not official, just a rumor as of now.

I'm not saying you didn't hear it...but NO ONE on the world wide web thingy has anything about MANRAM getting a new contract offer...

Well Manny gets another 2 year 45 million dollar offer. First year 25M, second year is up to him to play for 20M or piss and moan like a little girl again.

Well, the title of this thread is still accurate...

MANRAM has again rejected the Dodgers latest $25M offer...this one included a player option of $20M for 2010...

Manny, in his feeble mind, must get substantially more than the $20M he walked away from with the Red Sox with his faked injuries during the 2008 season...and so far, no one is biting...

He will sign a deal this year, but it will be way less than 25 million. He is a tool box if he thinks he is going to get some multi-year contract worth 100 million.

Actually I may not blame Manny on this one. If you read the description of the contract, yes the value is $25M for the 1st year & $20M for the 2nd year, but more than half the payout is deferred money. Translation is he only gets 10 of the 25M the 1st year, gets the remaining 15 spread out over 3 years.
