Opening Night not so good for the Sirens

The Sacramento Sirens opened their inaugural Women's Football Alliance campaign with a 24-6 setback at the hands of the Central Cal War Angels of Fresno tonight. I missed the game due to the Halden Invitational track meet at Davis High. The War Angels were apparently bolstered by the addition of outstanding veterans from two NorCal teams that recently folded (the Modesto Maniax and the Bay Area Bandits), while the Sirens were breaking in a bunch of rookies after talented vets retired.
Next week is a bye for the Sirens after their intended opponent folded. Next up is a home game against the WFA defending champion San Diego Surge. (The Surge won the title last year at Heinze Field in Blitzburgh. San Diego football teams have a history of doing well in playoff games in the Steel City....)
