The Lincoln County Communications Center received a call, apparently from Trickle, that "there would be a dead body and it would be his." Center workers tried to place a return call to the number but did not get an answer.
The incident occurred at 12:02 p.m. (EDT) at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Boger City, N.C. Emergency responders found the victim's body near his pickup truck.
Trickle moved from Wisconsin to Iron Station, N.C., in the early 1990s.
A sheriff's department representative said it would not have further comment beyond the release. The Charlotte Observer reported that a granddaughter of Trickle's is buried in the cemetery and he had difficulty accepting her death.
