Charlotte Bobcats to change name to Hornets, according to report


The Charlotte Bobcats have begun the process of changing the team name to the Hornets, according to CBS Sports. The Charlotte Hornets played in North Carolina as an expansion team from 1988 until 2002 when owner George Shinn moved the franchise to New Orleans. With the New Orleans franchise rebranding to the Pelicans next season, the door is open for Charlotte to reclaim the team name.

NBA Board of Governors approves Charlotte name change to Hornets



The NBA Board of Governors voted Friday to approve the name change of the Charlotte Bobcats to the Charlotte Hornets. The name harkens back to the original name of the Pelicans when they were in Charlotte.

Very glad we have our name back...it never fit NO and should have never left CLT. The team is saying that they have not decided on a color scheme yet. On the "Buzz City" (new theme) shirts, the colors are a light blue (Carolina Blue--MJ) and purple. Most people in town want to go back to the teal and purple. I don't really care about the colors nearly as much as the name. But, yes Clenz...it we get unis similar to what was posted, best in the league.

I loved the hornets of the early/mid 90s.
