Sirens Back Into Playoffs

The Sacramento Sirens suffered a HUGE setback in the final regular season game at the Central Cal War Angels in Visalia last night, losing 55-6. Yet despite the defeat, the Sirens secured a first-round home game in next week's playoffs.
The regionalized playoffs look pretty good, except for one thing: the 5-3 Portland Fighting Fillies got snubbed in favor of the 3-5 Arcadiana Zydeco. I have no idea if regionalization played into that, or if the Fighting Fillies turned down a playoff spot, but that just doesn't look good when a 5-3 team fails to get in, but a 3-5 and a 4-4 team does.
Anyways, here's the first round set for Saturday, 15 JUN:
Eastern Conference
Cincinnati Sizzle (4-4) @ Pittsburgh Passion (6-2)
Columbus Comets (4-4) @ New York Sharks (4-4)
West Michigan Mayhem (4-4) @ Cleveland Fusion (8-0)
Tampa Bay Inferno (6-2) @ Atlanta Phoenix (8-0)
Savannah Sabers (3-5) @ Miami Fury (8-0)
Western Conference
Arcadiana Zydeco (3-5) @ St. Louis Slam (5-3)
Little Rock Wildcats (5-3) @ Austin Outlaws (6-2)
Utah Jynx (6-2) @ Seattle Majestics (8-0)
Portland Shockwave (5-3) @ Central Cal War Angels (8-0)
Las Vegas Showgirlz (5-3) @ San Diego Surge (7-1)
Pacific Warriors (4-4) @ Sacramento Sirens (5-3)

No. This is a straight league.

The Western Conference seems to be bigger in the WFA, for some reason. The Eastern Conference is larger in the IWFL, the Sirens' old league. I'm not sure if the league HQ is the determinant here; the WFA HQ is Exeter, CA, but the IWFL is located in Round Rock, TX.
Last year, the WFA staged their title game at Heinz Field. This year, it's at Balboa Stadium in San Diego, where the Chargers first played when they moved to San Diego from Los Angeles. The IWFL has a continuous contract with a stadium in Round Rock, where they stage multiple title games for their three divisions AND an all-star game all in one weekend.

For grizza:
There is NOTHING in the rules about orientation for EITHER league. Both leagues have both straight AND lesbian players.
Your point is well-taken, though. Assuming that female pro/semi-pro athletes are necessarily gay is bogus. Orientation has NOTHING to do with qualification to play sports....

So how do they crown a champion?

As in any other playoff-driven sport, the playoffs are played out to the end, and a winner is crowned after the final. For the IWFL, there are champions in three different divisions, each one done the same as any other playoff.
At least we don't have to worry about "If you wanna crown them..." in these leagues.

Well, I hope the Sirens peak at the right time.
And by peak, I mean all of them get PMS on the same day. Forty women with PMS is just something you shouldn't mess with.

Well, there's a good chance that kalm is rooting for the undefeated Majestics. Siren fans are STILL smarting over the beatdown they gave us yet AGAIN this season....
You rooting for the Militia, 93?
I think they get a bye in the first round....

To clear up the confusion:
Three teams in the East got byes: the 8-0 Boston Militia, the 8-0 Chicago Force, and the 5-3 DC Divas.
Getting byes in the West are: the 8-0 Dallas Diamonds and the 6-1 Kansas City Titans.
The league website didn't specify the byes when they announced the first round games. And they're not explaining why teams with losses get byes while undefeated teams are playing the first weekend. Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!

I don't follow the league, so how could I, as a mere casual fan, not throw my full support behind the immortal Sacramento Sirens?

FWIW, I work with a few DC Divas. I'm not sure if they play football though.

I find a lot of the team names disgusting for one reason or another.

Yeah, that's kinda weird. The IWFL team in Atlanta is the Xplosion. Not sure I get THAT one, either, unless it's some veiled reference to General Sherman's March to the Sea that went through Atlanta....

I find them lacking and originality, like the Las Vegas Showgirlz.

Pacific Warriors (4-4) @ Sacramento Sirens (5-3)
Go Zydeco! their record is actually 4-4

The X is either in reference to the topic of 93's post, or more likely the extra X chromosome those females* possess.
*I use the term females in that instance more loosely than D1B's vagina.
