Tiger misses a gimme. THOSE are the putts he used to be deadly on...now, not so much. And it's the reason he hasn't won a major since 2008.

Looks like Tiger is going to finish with a bogey on 18 just like Phil did. :ohno: :ohno:

So maybe not.

But the wheels came off for the raghead. Birdies 6 of the first 7 holes, but has come back to -3 now.

In my pool you have to pick 1 from 1-20 in the world rankings, 1 from 21-50, and 1 from 51 and over. :tothehand:

cool to see Zach Johnson leading after the first round. (though I'm not holding my breath on seeing him hold the lead)

His dad was one of my favorite players of the last two decades. Love the swing with the pause at the top. It was built to win majors and he fell just short in several times. I have a buddy who owns a bar and served Jay dinner and a few drinks when he was on his way through here to a fishing trip in Montana. Talked to him for quite and said he was just a humble, solid dude. :thumb:

Charles Schwartzel just hit a drive over 450 yards and sits about 4 feet from the pin on a par 4.

which he two-putted to make a birdie.

he snapped his 6-iron in half when he chucked it into the ground in frustration during round 1.

So Tiger Woods has now failed to win the last 17 major tournaments that he's played in, dating back to his 2008 U.S. Open playoff win over the immortal Rocco Mediate. In all 17, he was either ahead or tied after the first three rounds, so he's not a come-from-behind guy (in golf, at least). 8-)

kalm, as our resident golf guru, what's your thought on the next major (if any) that Tiger will win? Or is his "Sunday putter" now so shot that it's an inherently silly question? :?

I don't know how long this website will last, but if it's still around in 7 years....

You owe me a Sambo's tab if Tiger is at >18 majors. I owe you the same if he's <19. Deadline: end of the 2020 PGA Championship. <extends hand to shake...>

I've said all along he ain't gettin' to 18. My prediction becomes more and more sure every day.

He's still shaking off the cobwebs of the reality that smacked him in the face the past four years. His game is getting better. His short game hasn't come back. He still needs to get out of his mentality that he'll hang on Thurs and Fri, they'll crack under the pressure of his presence on Sat, and he'll cruise on Sunday. Those days are over. As soon as he accepts that and starts playing aggressively, he'll start winning the biggies again. I'm very confident he still knocks Nicklaus off the pedestal.

I'll take that bet. :thumb: I agree with AZGF: he's not getting any younger, he has a big mental block about the majors, he can't come from behind on Sunday, and his putting is getting worse. 93, you have a better chance of dating Lindsay Vonn yourself than seeing Tiger get to 19. :twocents:
