65 game suspension, and it should have been more.

And the bombshell is about to explode with multiple suspensions of other players, including A-Roid.

Shows you how seriously these guys took the first round of "sanctions" from the late 90s juicing era.

As ESPN analysts are rightly pointing out, there's little disincentive to juice. Braun is going to lose $3.25M of a $100M+ contract. He gets off the rest of a season he's injured anyway and his team isn't in a pennant race.

He won. The juice paid off for him.

A more appropriate penalty would have been the rest of this season and all of next season suspended without pay.

Also....

...no sex with the fiance during that same timeframe:

This is why I loved how many people ripped Lance Armstrong. They had no clue how prevalent drugs are in sports. You see they want to test the NFL for HGH? I will now have a chance to make the team! Hello mediocrity in pro sports.

So it's OK if other people are doing it too? That makes a lot of sense. :dunce:

No, that is not what I was saying. Many people jumped on Lance because he was dirty, all the while not knowing their beloved baseball, football, soccer, track and field, hockey, etc player is most likely dirty as well.

Are they going to villify Ryan Braun like they did Lance Armstrong? How about when they really get serious about sports and truly start busting the guilty? It will be a shitload. Will Americans then change their minds about cheaters?

By the way, those in MLB, NFL and NHL will most likely resort to designer drugs and be 5 steps ahead of the testing, plus the owner stand to lose too much face, so real testing will never happen in American professional sports.

Oh, and will Joltin' Joe come on here and defend A-Roid? Or will he continue to insist that no Yankee has been caught cheating while a Yankee?

If the Eight Men out are banned from baseball for the 1919 World Series, anyone caught using steroids to win games and increase their pocket books, should be banned for life. Remove the stats like the vacant NCAA runner-ups of Minnesota and Villanova etc. Milwuakee should sue Braun for his salary, and quit paying him from today forward, not just until the end of the season. :twocents:

Amused by the indignation of certain fans of a certain team whose only World Series title ever resulted from cheating and juicing. :coffee:

From what the radio guys have said he could get anywhere from 65 games to lifetime ban.

Side Note: you have no avatar. If you need one I have a few really nice ones.

Aaron Rodgers is really interesting in this - apparently he's best buddies with Braun & publicly bet a Green Bay fan a year's worth of salary that Braun was innocent. Rodgers has been absent from all social media since last Friday & could be looking at a lawsuit for approximately $4.5M.....

Rodgers ain't clean.

You want clean (rhetorical)? Prepare yourself to see the whole level of professional sports take three steps down and look human. Guys will get hurt and not come back until the next year. Guys won't be able to play the full schedule without being broken down.

You either accept performance enhancers in pro sports, or you get used to mediocre performances.

I don't see anything wrong with Rodgers response. :twocents:
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Friday that he was shocked and disappointed after his friend Ryan Braun admitted to violating baseball’s rules against using performance-enhancing substances.

Braun, the Milwaukee Brewers slugger, “looked at me in the eye on multiple occasions and repeatedly denied the allegations, said they weren’t true,” Rodgers said after the first practice of training camp. Braun accepted a season-ending 65-game suspension earlier this week.

He and Rodgers are friends and are in business together with a Milwaukee restaurant, 8 Twelve MVP Bar and Grill. Rodgers defended Braun on Twitter last year, saying he would bet his substantial salary that his friend was clean.

Rodgers said he was simply “backing up a friend.” The two have spoken since Braun’s admission.

“Obviously, in hindsight, a more measured approach next time would obviously be a better course of action,” Rodgers said. “People make mistakes. I definitely believe in forgiveness and moving forward. Obviously, he has a tough task in front of him moving forward with his career, on and off the field.”

Aluminum bats would increase home run performance.

Well, I prefer wooden baseball bats over aluminum bats.

I am not really a Rodgers fan but from what I have read, there was no bet. A bet is a 2 way thing - From what I have read, in response to a fan asking if he believed Braun didn't take PEDs, he responded "ya, I'd put my next year's salary on it" and that was it. That doesn't lead to a bet and the fan didn't put up anything himself - People say that type of stuff all the time and it is never thought of as a bet. Media is making too much out of it because it is the media looking for a story.

That said, I think he welched on the Niners jersey bet.
