Ugly injury. He hit a grounder to the second baseman who booted the ball. Manny thought about rounding first and then stopped and his left knee buckled nastily.

Saw the highlight (tough word choice) on MLB.com, looks like his foot was on the side of the bag and rolled off. Normally it would be a twisted ankle at worst. Bad luck I guess...hate to see that happen to anybody.

This. But by the looks of it last night, it looks serious. I don't think playing SS is going to be in his future anymore.

MLB just tweeted about an hour ago that Machado suffered only a torn medial patellar ligament in left knee (not ACL or MCL). And that the expected recovery time is 6 to 8 weeks.

He had the same injury in the minors in '11. I think he'll get surgery to permanently repair it. He'll still be ready to go by Spring Training.
