If one of our teams was going to excessively overpay him, glad it was yours.

Didn't think it be worthy of its own thread (because LOLMarlins amirite?)
But we got an agreement "in principle" with Saltalamacchia for 3yrs, $21 million. Great stopgap between now and either Brantley gets his shit together or we draft a C in next year's draft to groom.

The Sox were arbitrary in their valuation of Ellsbury. Obviously wrong.
He will routinely score 120+ runs in NY and, given his swing and Yankee Stadium dimensions, a 25-30 HR guy. Like Damon before him, Yankee Stadium is built for his swing.

In the two years he's healthy. Now, what about the other 5?JoltinJoe wrote:UNHWildCats wrote:If one of our teams was going to excessively overpay him, glad it was yours.

I'll just be happy with a good batting average and speed on the bases.UNHWildCats wrote:the short porch in right will benefit him some, I just dont see consistent 25-30 power from him.clenz wrote:He had something like 65 career home runs at age 30...now he is going to be a 30hr guy?

Johnny Damon won a WS in NY, genius. Unless you were predicting Ellsbury's future, in which case I have no rebuttal.Grizalltheway wrote:And win zero titles.JoltinJoe wrote:

Breaking News: Yankees to change team name
Starting in 2014, New York's AL team will be known as the New York Hedgefunds. General Manager Brian Cashman explained: "We wanted to fit in better with the image of 21st century 1% New York: we have lots of money, but produce nothing of value."
