SD defense played well when the chips were down. Some are complaining that the zebras handed the game to SD on a silver platter. That, of course, is utter hogwash. After the fumble return that was erroneously called back, it was still incumbent upon the Chargers to score; the Chiefs defense could still have forced the Bolts to punt, in which case the point was moot. Additionally, under the new rules, since SD didn't get a TD or a safety, KC got another chance, and SD's defense shut it down. Sure, they were aided by KC backup QB Chase Daniel's consecutive brain farts on 3rd and 4th down, but those were largely forced by the deployment and execution of the Chargers D.
Given their performance over the last month after many gave them up for dead, the Chargers EARNED that playoff berth. I'm still not sold on Rivers as a starting QB, but I AM sold on McCoy as a head coach. In my mind, McCoy is COY....
FYI...I absolutely LOVE that '70s era disco theme song for the Lightning Bolts. I think SD should go back to the ORIGINAL baby blues (NOT the nasty new version) full time and have the team come out for every home game to the Super Chargers theme....

I knew you were flying off the handle with your kudos to the Chargers D that made a backup QB look like a world beater, but then you seal the deal by thinking Rivers isn't a starting QB.He is easily in the top 10 of current NFL QB's. Easily.

So...SDHornet. I guess you are a Charger fan. We going to have a little bet for the Cinci v. Charger game?

Fine by me. My avatar bet will be done this week with Ibanez. We doing it until after the Super Bowl or what?
Don't be a bitch. Straight up is the only way to go.
My avatar bets have been terrible as of late. I will do some looking toward the end of the week for a fancy one...not that I will need it. The Bungles always find a way to fail me when I put money/bets on them.
I just found out my cousin made it up to Glasgow today. If I head that way I will leave an avatar thingy in a post before I go on the off chance the Bengals win..if not, I will instruct Vidav to fix mine to whatever you decide.

I'm still a little miffed by Rivers' entrance into the league...bad attitude and whatnot. He's clearly no Ryan Leaf in that category, but he hasn't shown me anything recently to change that assessment. I ALSO don't like how the front office sent two sure HOFers packing just to get to Rivers. I wouldn't put him in the same breath as Dan Fouts or even Stan Humphries.
Of course, if McCoy is given free reign, that could change. The team as a whole is showing signs of that already. As Hacksaw said before the season started, the "Country Club" atmosphere is gone, and that's a good thing....

The Chargers, under Humphries, made that right turn at the stoplight in Blitzburgh to go to the Super Bowl. They may have stunk up that Super Bowl, but at least they got there. That's something Rivers hasn't done, and likely won't do. I will gladly eat crow pie if I'm wrong on that second part, but I don't think I am.

Fouts maybe not, but Humphries yes. Humphries had better talent (particularly on D) around him than Rivers & he wasn't stuck with Norv Turner as his head coach. And who are the two HOFers? I assume Brees is one, but who's the other?

He got the Chargers to their only SB, that alone makes him noteworthy among Charger fans. And SH I wouldn't count Rivers out completely, he has a couple good years still left in him so if the front office can get him a decent OL and surround him with enough talnet he is capable of keeping the Chargers in contention.
Also I am quite surprised you hate such a deeply religious devout Catholic such as Rivers. I thought all you churchies stick together no matter what.

OK. Here, pick one if I win. I will not be around a computer so "Hey Vidav" fix my shit if the Bengals lose. Or you could just PM the Russian or Mr. T.

I thought you would pick some kind of a Cincy logo or something, so originally I was going to go with the old school Charger logo. But then you went with the colorful pony bit so I had to counter with a colorful teddy bear bit. Then add in the grumpiness and it looked like a perfect fit.

And here I was to believe Russians were the top of the food chain...guess not.
Anybody want a red headed QB? He has 4 super great games a year while having many subpar games and promises to lose to teams he should beat...also guaranteed to fumble 10 times a season while throwing no less than 20 INTS.
Bring in Tebow.
There I said it. TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW. Cinci is heading down the drain again.
