...the 49ers have set themselves up to screw Colin Kaepernick in a fashion VERY similar to how they dissed Alex Smith. That $61M "guaranteed money" isn't so very guaranteed, and much of it is structured as a series of one-year contracts that enable the team to dump him on any or even no pretext.
More proof that this team has no class when it comes to how they treat players....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

That deal is a very franchise friendly deal. Most of the money is incentive laden. Also, the 9ers have until April 1st of every year to terminate the contract without triggering the "guaranteed" monies for the following year...meaning Kapernick (sp?) potentially set himself up to hit free agency late if things go poorly in Santa Clara. Bottom line is he should have had a better agent.

agreed. ANY injury at all and he's gone, but I'm sure the fans LOVE this. They always want the players to be unquestionably loyal to the team when the team can screw them over at a whim.SDHornet wrote:That deal is a very franchise friendly deal. professional sports, the one industry where billionaires get public support and sympathy for having to deal with "greedy" millionaires who are playing a "child's game". Oh and not to mention the ever present, "if it were me, I'd play for free" argument as well.
