And his likely back up? He had two prior incidents like this in the past, if I'm not mistaken

And Cardinals promptly deactivated him - something that other teams (I'm looking at you, Minnesota/Carolina/SF/GB) have failed to do.

Cards still have a much lower arrest rate than other teams. it should also be noted that the incident in question happened before he ever played a down with the Cardinals, and he will never play another down with the Cardinals again.

The did it early because they watched other teams gave backlash, not because that's what their likely coarse of action would have been.

If i just watched 3 other teams goes through hell is the first thing I'd do too

So you are saying the cards are okay with signing known wife beaters, as long as it doesn't happen on their pay check?

He's on the practice squad - and most of us were pissed that he was signed in the first place...

And the Cards have no intention of activating him to the regular squad

As far as Dwyer - the incident happened after he signed but today was the first knowledge the Cards had of it. Phoenix Police have been building their case since the incident happened in July.

And yes, the Cards would have reacted the same way regardless of what happened.

Uh, the article on ESPN says the Cards were made aware of this on Sept 11th. They then let Dwyer play (and score a TD) on Sept 13th, and only deactivated him after the press got wind of this yesterday, and of course, after several other teams have shown what to do and what not to do regarding bad guys like this. So, why did he play on Saturday after they became aware of the domestic violence?? :coffee:

What a crazy mixed up world we live in when the Oakland Raiders are the golden boys of the NFL.

The police only became aware of it on the 11th. At that time, it was an allegation with no proof. Proof came yesterday, and they immediately deactivated him.

This is the problem. That proof was not in the form of evidence brought forth in a trial.
So let's say Peyton Manning makes it to the Super Bowl against the Seahawks again. Someone can easily claim that Manning beat her and he would have to sit out the Super Bowl. It would take months to find that she was lying.
This is going to be a problem for the NFL.

I most definitely discipline my daughter. I have a 1-year-old daughter, and I discipline her. Obviously, every person is different, and I definitely will use my best judgement to discipline her depending on the situation and what happens. I definitely will try to obviously not leave bruises or anything like that on her, but I definitely will discipline her, harshly, depending on what the situation is.
What could a 1 yr old do that requires you to punish them where you have to try and not bruise them?

There is a fine line to be sure. Ray Rice had a video. AP had pictures. Proof (in form of text messages, doctor reports, etc) were not obtained/verified by Phoenix police until Monday. I don't think you suspend based solely on an accusation.

The Cardinals are doing what every other team would do (except for the 49ers with MacDonald). After last week, you have to deactivate him for no other reason than for PR reasons. Too much negative and detrimental publicity not to do it even if the person is innocent.

You can make an argument that the team would have done the same thing last month or last year, but that's an easy thing to say and nobody really knows the truth.

The issue is with the individual players. The teams and league are getting caught up in this and making some questionable decisions but the issue is with the individual players.

You can say the Vikings wouldn't do the same thing...but how many games did AP play after the charges came out?

What's that?

None?

Hmm...

So really, what's the difference?

what else?

The chances AP ever plays another down for the Vikings?

Less than .000001?

Yup.

The difference is clear. Jon's a fan of the Cardinals and not the Vikings so the Vikings did something wrong and the Cardinals did not. Duuuuhhhhhh.
