161-2

So, a girls basketball team wins 161-2 and the winning coach is suspended for two games. I know we've had this sort of discussion here before, but what say ye?
IMHO, it's the OTHER teams job to stop you. The winning coach played nothing but reserves in the 2nd half, didn't press in the 2nd half. What else could he do? Have his team purposely miss? Turn the ball over on purpose? Put in the waterboy?

Whoever scheduled that game ought to be suspended. That is an insanely lopsided game and there's no way they didn't see that coming. I think the USC song girls could play a more competitive game with a WNBA team.

Meh, they could have worked on their passing and only shoot once per minute. Shooting isn't the only thing going on in basketball, so the second string could have worked on other things.
But yeah, that must be one crappy team.

The players on the losing team should all be shot. Or banned from ever playing the game again.

From the sounds of it they're ALREADY not playing the game...

Probably when you get up by 100 or so something drastic has to be done. Just sitting there and playing your scrubs when you're up by triple digits is just basically doing nothing. Hell, stopping the game is the better option, and then finding out who scheduled the game and take the issue up with them. I have no problems with taking action against a guy (or girl) who sat there on the bench and thought nothing of winning a basketball game by 159 points.

The team led 104-1 at the half.

Aren't HS games still 8 min a qtr? I don't know if they could have scored more versus cones...
So it looks like the backups out scored the other team 57-1 during the 2nd half. So if the backups had played the entire game you might have had around 114-2.
The coach so he wishes he had only played the starters the 1st qtr or not played the game at all. The previous 4 games they'd won by at least 70. His son coached the next game that they only won 80-19....

I have more issue with a guy who obviously isn't a very fucking good coach having a job as a coach. I'm fine with a mercy rule or something, but that losing team needs to be looking INWARD for the problem, not OUTWARD. This "blame the other guy" mentality is why this country is spiraling down the shitter.

Kind of douchey move by the coach to continue the full court press for the entire first half. But I have no problem with starters playing the first half and scrubs the 2nd half while being told to run the shot clock as long as possible.
Maybe they need to put in a mercy rule for HS basketball like they do with a lot of HS football.

Who's the say that the talent gap isn't too much to overcome in this case? It's likely these two teams never should've been playing each other in the first place. And if he pressed the entire first half with the first team, well, that says a lot right there.
