I think Spring Training games started the other day.

Last I heard Cole Hammels was still a Phillie.

That's about all I've got.

Lost to DII University of Tampa in the first game of Spring Training. Normally, one would say there's nowhere to go but up from there, but as a lifelong Phillies fan, I know that's not the case. We can certainly go lower.

I'm okay with it all, though. I made sure to be fully aware and fully appreciate the Phillies Golden Age that ran from 2007 through 2011. Having lived through two Phillies World Series wins will put me in pretty exclusive company of Phillies fans who never saw or will ever see that. I'm already telling my 11 year old son that if he lives long enough, he just might see the Phils win their 3rd franchise World Series. :thumb:

This Herrera guy they picked up on Rule 5 from Texas looks like he can unseat Revere in CF.

Is it too late to take the under (wins) for this season?

And down goes Cliff Lee...probably.

I'm tired of hearing teams may be interested in Howard or Papelbon - trade them please.

Should've traded Cliff Lee for a bag of balls last year, now we run the risk of not having enough baseballs for Spring Training this year. On the bright side, Ryan Howard has been treating the baseballs nicely for the past few years by refusing to hit them with a bat, so we may be okay after all. :coffee:

Three hit shutout thrashing at the hands of the Red Sox, 8-0. Hamels looked like shit. That's the way to start boys!

Now, they're 3-2! :thumb: Only one HR in the first five games, though, and Howard is still below the Mendoza line. :ohno:

They finally got HR # 2 in game # 6, but Howard continues to suck big time: .150 BA, 1 RBI, 7 Ks in 20 AB.

So... Is Utley going to get better? I need to know if it's too early to pull the trigger on dropping his ass from my fantasy team or not.

Well, he hit two bombs last night with 3 RBIs. May be too soon to write off Chase. Howard, OTOH, ... :jack:

Well, let's be honest, Utley basically owns CitiField. I think they've renamed the spot where he always hits HR's there to be "Utley's Corner".

But yes, Utley still has something in the tank - Howard is so far past empty he's even out of fumes. I think the Phils just out and out release him this summer.

Good to hear.

He's my worst statistical player this year so far. I like to wait to see if they break out of early season slumps but with Utley's age and what not didn't know if he was worth holding on too or shipping off somehow.

Well, he's worth more to hold on to than Howard is, but I wouldn't consider that a great endorsement.

Don't have Howard so that comparison means little. Good to know none the less.

Still winless on the road. Hamels grooving his fastball.
