Sirens return in a HUGE way!

After leaving late from a major HS track invitational in Davis, I FINALLY arrived at the Sacramento Sirens-Nevada Storm opening game at Dayton HS (yes, there IS a Dayton, NV). When I got in, the Sirens held a slim 14-6 lead with a tad more than 9 minutes left in the third quarter. That quickly changed as Sirens running back Samia Jbeily put on a one-woman show, leading to a final score of 41-6. I quickly lost track of all of the large gains and touchdowns Jbeily got as the Storm defense grew tired.
There was some crazy officiating going on, though clearly it didn't affect the score. Somehow, PI is in effect despite a tipped ball OR when there's a pass ten yards past anyone in the vicinity of the target. This being the first game of the season, Nevada's tempo is suspect, as they were not able to convert fourth quarter Sirens fumbles. The one late drive they DID get going was short circuited by continuing to slowly huddle and saunter to the line. The Storm FINALLY called a time out at 40 seconds left with goal to go, but the poor choice of a dive was stuffed. Have they not worked a two-minute drill yet? Nevada was hobbled due to the fact that their best safety was limited by an ankle injury.
The Sirens are next in action on Saturday, 18 APR, opening their home campaign at Sacramento City College against the California Quake, kickoff at 5:30.
