ESPN is reporting Florida State quarterback De’Andre Johnson has been suspended indefinitely, and cites sources that the suspension is due to allegations the freshman football player punched a female student at a Tallahassee bar Wednesday night.
From Mark Schlabach’s report:
Sources say Johnson was involved in an argument with the woman after she cut in front of him while they were waiting to order drinks at a bar near the FSU campus. Witnesses told police the woman raised her arms and then Johnson grabbed them and punched her in the face.
We’re attempting to get a copy of the incident report ourselves from the Tallahassee police department, but if you know more—as always—email us.
Update (7:54 p.m.): Tallahassee police sent us a copy of the incident report and it says pretty much nothing. Citing the state law that allows agencies to redact “active criminal intelligence information and active criminal investigative information,” Tallahassee police have redacted everything except the approximate time of what happened, the location, and the name and contact information for the victim. Not even one sentence of the narrative was left in the report.
What police released is below, with the victim’s identifying information also removed.
report on link above.
So, TPD made sure to redact the football players information but left the victims name, address, birth date, and phone number.
What a fucking joke TPD is. The NCAA really needs to launch a full investigation into shit that happens down there - and most major college programs.
Shit like this will only prevent victims of crimes from coming forward in the future - and maybe that's what TPD wants. It's all about protecting the spear down there, not the victims.

If it is true that he punched her in the face...then wow. He should be kicked off the team. There's no need for that. Wow. What the hell is going on with Florida colleges? FSU, Miami, USF. What's the deal!?

I'll withhold judgment on the action until "all the facts" come out.
I'm more up in arms about TPD, once again, doing everything they can to protect their football players while making potential victims think 7 or 8 times about filing a criminal complaint.
This wasn't an unintentional missed redaction.

If he is a freshman, what is he doing in a bar? And ordering drinks at a bar?

I have no idea what a "freshperson" is. Is that what you stupid chicks call yourselves after you doosh? Although in that case it would be "freshcunt"..

They could be 19...a little google search is all it takes.
Suspended Florida State quarterback De'Andre Johnson turned himself in Tuesday and was released on a $500 bond amid accusations that he punched a 21-year-old woman in a bar last week.
The 19-year-old Johnson entered and left the Leon County Jail on Tuesday after the state attorney's office in Tallahassee, Florida, issued a warrant.

There are freshmen of EVERY age. A Mormon could be coming off of his or her mission (though they usually go to college for a year or two before doing that). Someone could be coming out of the military. (There was a recent freshman linebacker at a lower division school who was something like 38 because he was retiring from the military.) And others are out in the workforce for awhile before giving college a try.

It's a fucking shot. The fact she didn't get knocked out is amazing.
What a fuck bag. Deserves to be in jail.
Underage, trying to push people out of the way to get to the bar, someone stands up to him, he grabs her, she swings to get free and he cheap shots her.
He gets a 2 quarter suspension because "He's a good kid"

The FSU boards are disgusting as well.
Most seem OK with booting him - only because they have an "influx of QBs right now". If they didn't have that they'd want to keep him

direct quotes from the FSU forums
Needs to be a full reinstatement and no game suspension, great to see all those that overreacted when this first came out.
She swung and kicked first, bitch had it coming. Would be a total bitch move to kick him off the team for that. Doesn't even deserve a suspension imo.
She kneed him and took a swing at him, lol if you think that is just ok to do. The pushing thing doesn't make sense have to see the video, she could have refused to let him by in the first place.
Since she was the aggressor he should be reinstated. You have to expect some contact at a busy bar when ordering drinks. If she didn't raise her fist and attempt to knee him in the junk this never happens. I hope she is also charged with the same charge. Forced redshirt is a fair punishment for this.
she deserved it because she raised her fist and tried to knee him the junk first. Women don't get to hit men without repercussions.
Pushing near the bar happens millions of times a day, she had no right to do what she did first.
That's just the first two pages of the thread on their scout board

Some more good ones
I want to here what Johnson has to say. I want to here the whole story. I can not imagine any players pushing a woman out the way to get to the bar. This story doesn't make sense. If anything he may have been talking or flirting with the woman. There is a reason Jumbo hasn't kicked him off the team when we have 4 other quarterbacks. Something doesn't add up. If he hit a woman for no good reason at a bar, I would expect a brawl. I don't know too many people that will watch a woman get hit in public.
Johnson probably told Jumbo what happened.
Only issue is the closed fist. Gotta use the open hand if you're defending yourself against a female.
I wanna hear Johnson side.
Did she spit on him?
Crowded bar always has some contact when you're jostling for position. Was it a Full out shove, or an Excuse me, reposition type of contact.
Something missing.
DJ ain't the type to seem like he gonna just attack a female. Kid might be arrogant andsaid something arrogant to the female that kissed her off like, Move B*tch stop stepping on my shoes. And then she got upset and may have then spit at him and at that point, he reacts and she tries to fend him off by kneeing him and he caught her with a solid.
Something made DJ respond.
The fact that with those visible injuries allegedly, that it wasn't a felony says something.
I think the SAO is tired of taking losses and looking like they are in FSU pocket so they gonna make FSU look like the bad guy if the case doesn't stick.
If the girl did spit, you must acquit
Its a crowded bar, where was he suppose to go, she pushed him so he grabbed her, that is reactionary.
MIND YOU NO WHERE IS THIS EVER STATED BUT IT'S REPEATED NON-STOP ON THAT BOARD - ALONG WITH THE SPITTING
What don't you understand that the report is slanted in the alleged victims favor. Using adjectives to make it seem more extreme than it really is, is commonplace. She attempted to grab him and pushed him back, really is no difference. As he was defending himself she attempted to knee him, groin/midsection doesn't really make a difference, then she swung at him. You literally have no idea what you are talking about.
Its clear DJ was defending himself, if you can't see that, there is no helping you. Unless DJ is a psycho you don't start pushing someone unprovoked. get a damn clue.
That's an idiotic statement. If you are being attacked, you respond with enough force to protect yourself from the other person, male or female. I see women every day, multiple at my crossfit, who are easily capable of taking men down. Take your stupid, antiquated nonsense elsewhere.
This is not a DV case, just a simple battery. The sex of the victim should not be relevant. That being said, these guys need to use better judgment whether it was dude or some ratchet chick, they have too much at stake to being fighting at Yiannis. Suspend the kid for a year (aka redshirt) and put him on a tight leash, everyone deserves a second chance, he's only 18.
wake up guy, men are charged with battery for doing much less than what allegedly happened. facing criminal charges doesn't really mean anything. Its a misdemeanor after all, should tell you most of what you need to know anyway.
Why isn't the female being charged as well? She struck the initial blow.
I can't make this shit up

I saw the video this morning. The girl was clearly drunk and belligerant and probably did hit or knee him first. Still no call to punch her the way he did. Never hit a woman, let alone like he did, no matter how ignorant she is/was.

The knee was a reaction to him grabbing her hands and shoving her back.
This is 100% on him. To even make a hint that she did anything that might have brought that reaction is just....

Do Florida "Stand Your Ground" laws only apply to lethal force retaliation?
She's fortunate she wasn't shot.

It is possible for both to be wrong, and in this case, they were both wrong. Nothing she did justified in any way the reaction from him (i.e. the punching) - I never said that it did in my prior post so insinuating that I did (i.e your comment "to even make a hint") was/is something of your creation. He was 100% wrong to do what he did. And I stand by my other contention, that she was wrong to be drunk and to be combative. That's not criminal, it's just bad behavior, and she was guilty of that. See, both parties can be wrong in a situation, and here, they both were. He deserves whatever he gets, and she deserves far, far less condemnation for her unsavory behavior. He was a criminal and she was no saint.
