The NFL will have a presence in the United Kingdom for years to come.

Along with Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League, the NFL announced Wednesday that it has reached a 10-year agreement to play at least two games per season at the soccer club’s new stadium in London, which is set to open in the summer of 2018.

Nonsense, it has nothing to do with the club supporters. There are plenty of smaller clubs that you could schedule to come over here to play and there wouldn't be much of a stink. It's like how we started with Jacksonville being the guinea pig and it turned out not to be a bad thing. If Crystal Palace came over to New York for a few games every now and then it probably wouldn't be a big deal.

Where the real difference lies, though, is in the scheduling. There aren't bye weeks in the EPL like you have in the NFL, and then you have the issue of games during the week (cup matches or matches in Europe) that would make travel on the weekend even more onerous.

You could get around the club supporters thing relatively easily - it's the scheduling that would be problematic. Heck, it's a hard thing getting players released for international games as it is.

In his defense, EPL teams have 19 home games each season, so it wouldn't be as large of an impact. And he's probably right that they could get around the protests of supporters/season ticket holders if they really wanted to.

That's the point. It's not as big an imapct for an EPL team and they still won't do it. I'd be furious if my team was sent to London instead of playing a home game.

Eventually they will. All NFL teams will rotate through the out of country games, and every team will eventually give up a home game.

Probably depends which game we'd miss. Wouldn't want to miss a division game, but they haven't been doing those yet. If it meant going to one less game in the frigid cold (and if I was only billed for the 7 home games) I could certainly live with it.

IIRC, the games played in London aren't in December.

Will the fans of the home team have a chance to purchase 7 or 8 game season plans? Cause if so I think it would be cool to see your team play a home game in London. Once though. Not every fucking year.

I think Vikings season ticket holders still had to pay 8 game totals and PSLs when the "hosted" Pitt a couple years ago.
