Or does this mean that the Jets season is looking better? Ryan Fitzpatrick taking over. Not as much upside as Smith but a lot less downside as well. Jets don't need a QB who is going to win it. Their defense is strong - they just need a QB who won't lose the game - not saying that is Fitzpatrick but Smith has proven he can lose the game a number of times.

The Jets season was over when Roger Goodell allowed Tom Brady to play at least 75% of the regular season.

He deserved it from what I heard. Don't go poking a Linebacker without expecting any retaliation.

The Jets are fascinating
There is no shortage of talent - they've been drafting at the top for a while now
And their Defense - by the man - is an all pro line-up
They have an under performing offense but not because they lack talent
That offensive line should be world class
But somehow it always seems to add up to nothing (or not much) by mid season

True on the defense and the offensive line but RB and QB has suffered the past 4 years and you can't do well without strong in one of those positions. Don't forget that the Jets made the Conference championships in 2009-2010. It's really been the last 4 years that has been downhill.
2011 and 2012 Shonn Greene was the main RB and never did enough to make up for Sanchez like Thomas Jones and LDT did the previous 2 years
2013 was led by Ivory and Powell and a rookie Geno Smith who made many rookie mistakes
2014 was led by Ivory and C. Johnson with a Smith who made too many mistakes.
That has been the issue. This year, Fitzpatrick is better than the QB play they have had in years and that will hopefully balance out Ivory and Powell. Without strong QB and RB play, a team with a strong defense can do only so well (Baltimore in 2000 is the exception to the rule)
As for drafts, they have not been at the top every year:
2015 - 6th
2014 - 18th
2013 - 9th
2012 - 16th
2011 - 30th
2010 - 29th
2009 - 5th (trade with Cleveland for 17th pick, 2nd round, and players)
2008 - 6th
2007 - 14th
2006 - 29th
In the last 10 years, they have had 3 late picks, 4 top 10 picks (1 having to give up a bunch for), and 3 mid round picks.

Interesting how they allowed the guy to get away WITHIN THE DIVISION. Should have placed him on some sort of no-pay suspended list instead....

He was way down in the depth chart. He only appeared in 6 games last year, making 3 tackles and had 2 defenses. Plus they were 1-2 weeks into training camp under a new coach so system is different than before and he couldn't have learned a ton of it yet. Not a big deal and better for the Jets to get him off the team than to have to fight with the NFLPA about that indefinite suspension since they clearly didn't want him to play with them.

Seriously, how desperate are the Bills that they pick up this douche almost immediately? Like WTAG on a Friday night desperate??

Are you more desperate on Friday nights as compared to every other night?

Well that's when I'm actually out chasing tail instead of watching porn. So yeah.

Isn't it safe to say the Jets season is over whenever they announce the schedule for that year? Heck, 2016 is pretty much over for them even before the schedule comes out. Come on, this is the Jets we're talking about. Any organization that takes on Rich Kotite
after his collosal failures somewhere else is just an organization that will never, ever get it right. But it is cool when they do that J-E-T-S chant.

The Jets would have a better chance if they signed Richard Todd....
