And he's 30 now? He'll be the pitching equivalent of Ryan Howard in 5 years, with a flat, 85-mph "hit me" fastball. :ohno:

Theo Epstein is laughing his ass off right now..!!!
That might be one of the WORST signings in the history of baseball right there
Sure paying Jacoby Ellisbury 21 million a year to play 80 games is bad but this is criminally bad

Apparently, the Cubs weren't far behind with their offer. It is crazy, but Washington raised the bar last year when they signed Scherzer to a 7 year 210 million dollar deal.

*Ridiculous.

...also this contract.

Thru his career, Price averages 15 wins per year. That comes to a little over $2M per win. :?

Scherzer threw two no-hitters last season. Price is good, but he's not that good.

He's younger than Scherzer. And over the course of his career has consistently been a better pitcher. And he's a left hander. Both contracts are crazy, considering the age of the players involved. Kershaw or Bumgarner, maybe.

This is the equivalent of the Kevin Brown signing.

Robinson Cano's contract is right up there. Mariners won't be relevant for the next 8 years.

The game before his first no hitter was a one hitter (broken bat single) complete game. Two games, 18 innings, 1 hit, 26 K's, 1 BB.

No doubt, Max has been great for the last 3 1/2 seasons. Even though his run support wasn't very good last year with Washington.

That was a great trade. I'd have loved to see him stay in Detroit. But hell, they only offered him $146 million over 6 years. Cheap bastards. :ohno:

Not like they would have him now - no way they could afford that contract.

Of course the D'backs just signed Greinke to a 6 year $206 million dollar deal.

I sure didn't. Phoenix is an apathetic baseball town. They'll need to start putting lots more butts in the seats to pay that one off.

Arizona and Florida are great for spring training, regular season not so much. MLB should never have expanded into those areas.
