*Ridiculous.AshevilleApp wrote:Apparently, the Cubs weren't far behind with their offer. It is crazy, but Washington raised the bar last year when they signed Scherzer to a 7 year 210 million dollar deal.
Scherzer threw two no-hitters last season. Price is good, but he's not that good.AshevilleApp wrote:Apparently, the Cubs weren't far behind with their offer. It is crazy, but Washington raised the bar last year when they signed Scherzer to a 7 year 210 million dollar deal.

I spelled it that way on purpose. Red Sox+ridiculousBaldy wrote:*Ridiculous.AshevilleApp wrote:Apparently, the Cubs weren't far behind with their offer. It is crazy, but Washington raised the bar last year when they signed Scherzer to a 7 year 210 million dollar deal.
...also this contract.![]()
Thru his career, Price averages 15 wins per year. That comes to a little over $2M per win.
He's younger than Scherzer. And over the course of his career has consistently been a better pitcher. And he's a left hander. Both contracts are crazy, considering the age of the players involved. Kershaw or Bumgarner, maybe.Grizalltheway wrote:Scherzer threw two no-hitters last season. Robinson Cano's contract is right up there. Mariners won't be relevant for the next 8 years.Chizzang wrote:Ivytalk wrote:And he's 30 now? He'll be the pitching equivalent of Ryan Howard in 5 years, with a flat, 85-mph "hit me" fastball.
Theo Epstein is laughing his ass off right now..!!!
That might be one of the WORST signings in the history of baseball right there
Sure paying Jacoby Ellisbury 21 million a year to play 80 games is bad but this is criminally bad
The game before his first no hitter was a one hitter (broken bat single) complete game. Two games, 18 innings, 1 hit, 26 K's, 1 BB.Grizalltheway wrote:Scherzer threw two no-hitters last season. Was always pissed as hell the D-Backs gave him up ....watching him succeed just pisses me off every time.89Hen wrote:The game before his first no hitter was a one hitter (broken bat single) complete game. Two games, 18 innings, 1 hit, 26 K's, 1 BB.Grizalltheway wrote:

No doubt, Max has been great for the last 3 1/2 seasons.89Hen wrote:The game before his first no hitter was a one hitter (broken bat single) complete game. Two games, 18 innings, 1 hit, 26 K's, 1 BB.Grizalltheway wrote:

Not like they would have him now - no way they could afford that contract.AZGrizFan wrote:Was always pissed as hell the D-Backs gave him up ....watching him succeed just pisses me off every time.89Hen wrote: The game before his first no hitter was a one hitter (broken bat single) complete game. Of course the D'backs just signed Greinke to a 6 year $206 million dollar deal.dbackjon wrote:Not like they would have him now - no way they could afford that contract.AZGrizFan wrote:

I sure didn't. Phoenix is an apathetic baseball town. They'll need to start putting lots more butts in the seats to pay that one off.dbackjon wrote:AshevilleApp wrote:

And we are all in shock. No one saw this coming
