They won't catch the Spiders, but the '62 Mets are certainly in range.

Just for Z:

Joe is 7th in the majors for BA for a first basemen (Goldschmidt is 12 and 40 points behind Joe

Joe is 6th in hits...Paul is 12th

They have the same number of doubles.

Same number of triples

Paul has just 3 more HR than no Power Mauer.

Joe has 20 less strike outs than Paul

Joe has a positive BB/K...Paul is negative

Joe has a better WAR

Not too shabby for a 33 year old washed up singles hitter.

Oh, defensively Joe is first in fielding % with a perfect fielding percentage and. Paul is 15th.

Yep. Too bad for Joe they don't hand out MVP's in May. Let's check these same stats at the end of the year.

That doesn't make that sweep look any better.

Make it looks worse.

Let's be honest, Clenzy, the clock is just now turning to June and time has ALREADY caught up with Mauer....calling him "washed up" might be too kind...

Both players (through last night) had 178 AB's. Goldschmidt has more doubles (7/6), more HR's (10/6), more RBI (33/18), more SB's (6/1), more BB's (48/31), has scored more runs (27/18), has a higher OBP (.418/.389), higher SLG (.478/.427) and a higher OPS (.896/.816). The ONLY thing Mauer leads in is bigger paycheck, fewer SO's, more singles  and slightly higher batting average, although even THAT advantage is dropping like a stone for him (down 56 points in May, from .337 to .281 overall, while Goldy's has gone up from .247 to .258). That "positive BB/K ratio Mauer had? Gone as well.

Mauer's OBP in May? .324.
Goldy's OBP in May? .412. :coffee:

But keep digging, friend.  Every year, you're like shooting fish in a barrel. :kisswink:

And bandl? Fuck you. :tothehand:

The WAR for Mauer and Goldschmidt are the same this year. Who'd of thunk. Old washed up Mauer with the same WAR as superstar Paul Goldschmidt. What hurts Goldschmidt is his strikeouts. Goldy is only 163 k's behind Mauer and he's only in his 6th season, while Mauer is in his 13th season.
