First big news of the new season, Kevin Garnett will be announcing his retirement.

Useless Trivia: Minnesota Timberwolves Center, Karl Anthony Towns, was born 12 days after Kevin Garnett played his first game.

Huh? How do you figure? They said the team would be crap for the past 3 years, which it was, so that we could start bringing guys in, which we did, so that we wouldn't have to be crap. It's pretty much what everyone who is crap does to get better in the NBA, the only difference here was that the Sixers told people what they were doing rather than pretend they weren't doing it. Sixers fans got to know in advance so we didn't show up in large numbers at all, so it was a win/win.

So yeah, Simmons getting hurt is a bummer, but it's not career ending. In the meantime, we still have Okafor and Noel and Embiid and Saric and finally some free agents, with Simmons coming in eventually, and with more first round picks stashed in the next few years, that's a lot better than the slop that went 31-51 and was going nowhere with Jrue Holliday, Evan Turner, and Spencer Hawes as the best players we had before we started the process. Having watched the pain of the post AI years I welcome doing something different.
