Found this on reddit. It's interesting.
Notice how I compared Danica to my driver a few weeks ago...look where they fall in the standings...and actually look at their movement after this past weekend and see where they had been this season

She's 29th of 35 drivers who have run all 6 races. If you look at the top $$ teamsclenz wrote:Found this on reddit. It's interesting.

Toyota (6): JGR, Furniture Row
Ford (10): Stewart Haas, Penske, Wood Brothers, Rousch-Fenway, RPM
Chevy (11): Hendrick, RCR, Gnassi, JTG Daugherty
There's tops 27 drivers in what could be considered somewhat top equipment. And including the 2 Chevys of JTG Daugherty and the Ford RPM driven by Almirola as top $$ teams/top equipment is a stretch.
And she's dead last among those 27, in 29th, even behind Michael McDowell of Leavine Family Racing, who definitely isn't running in top equipment.

NASCAR: Retirement Might Be On The Horizon For Danica Patrick
https://beyondtheflag.com/2017/04/17/na ... a-patrick/
35 now, by the end of this season she'll be up to 5 full seasons (13'-17') + 10 races in 12', 190 Cup races, with 0 wins/0 top 5s (and only 1 top 10 as of now), all while running top equipment. She's never finished better than 24th in the standings (she's 29th now). Riding around mid pack to the rear, usually finishing laps down 20-30 something place. She'll never win a race, make the Chase (or even finish in the top 20). Stenhouse should just knock her up and end this charade.

I wouldn't say she'll never win a race. Anybody can get lucky on a superspeedway. See Michael Waltrip. Four career wins; three at Daytona and one at Talladega. Trevor Bayne: one career win - Daytona 500.

Re: 2017 NASCAR Thread
Modern NASCAR's intra-weekend scheduling really blows. Qualifying is already cancelled at Bristol and it's only mid-day Friday. WTF? Back in the day they'd drag tires and run cars around the track and get that shit dried up and get everything in, even if they had to qualify the morning of the race. Now they have these millions of dollars worth of jet dryers (seriously, it's like a fleet of 20; saw they at work in Martinsville) and they cancel practice mid-day Friday?

Re: 2017 NASCAR Thread
Bristol results:
1. Johnson: 2nd straight win, led 81 laps. 2nd Bristol win in 31 starts..
2. Bowyer: overcame pit road speeding penalty at lap 326.
3. Harvick
4. Kenseth
5. Logano: With Larson & Truex one of best cars early, but not as good late in race, faded on long runs..
6. Larson: Won 1st stage, led 202 laps. Best car on top groove. Pit road speeding penalty on lap 422.
7. Elliott
8. Truex: Won 2nd stage, led 116 laps. Maybe best car on the bottom groove. Pit road speeding penalty lap 460ish.
9. Stenhouse
10. Hamlin
.
.
.
35. Kyle Busch: blown right front tire, twice. 5 time Bristol winner, but hasn't won in the last 11 races since 2011. Last 5 finishes have been 36th, 8th, 38th, 39th, 35th..
36. Danica: wreck as usual..
.
38. Junior: Mechanical. 4 of 8 races this season below 30th due to wrecks or mechanical issues..
.

If Larson & Truex didn't have those pit road speeding penalties it would have been a very interesting finish between them and Johnson, who didn't have one of the best cars until the latter part of the race..

First two months of the season really look like a Larson, Truex, and Team Penske show. I'm surprised how poorly JGR (other than affiliate Truex) has done so far. I'm also interested to see if Jr's team can rally behind him a bit. He's had some bad luck on track, but their pit stops have been horrible all year, typically losing a couple of spots on every stop.

Re: 2017 NASCAR Thread
I would agree on those 4, and add on Elliott & Johnson.93henfan wrote:First two months of the season really look like a Larson, Truex, and Team Penske show. 1. Larson has been wicked good going back to the last 2 races of last season:
-Phoenix: 3rd
-Homestead: 2nd________________________________________________________________________
-Daytona: 12th (led with 2 to go before starting to run out of fuel)
-Atlanta: 2nd
-Las Vegas: 2nd
-Phoenix: 2nd
-CA: 1st
-Martinsville: 17th
-Texas: 2nd
-Bristol: 6th (Led most (200+) laps, won 1st stage, if not for late pit road speeding penalty might have won).
Outside of the new stage/playoff bonus point format (and now the Junior retirement), Larson's dominance has to be one of the biggest stories of the season. And its not just him, as McMurray is in 7th place. Since late last season Gnassi has found something...
2. Elliott: all 8 races top 14, 6 of 8 top 10.
3. Truex: In addition to his one win, 5 stage wins is the most by far of anyone
4. Logano: Along with Larson & Elliott, the most consistent. Only 1 stage win, but 7 of 8 points races have been top 6 finishes.
5. Keselowski: 2 wins
6. Johnson: 2 wins
Right now, with the way the playoff bonus points carry all the way to Homestead, it looks like the 4 at Homestead will come from those 6. Certainly 3 of the 4. Maybe someone else like Harvick or one of the JGR will sneak up there.
Ditto on JGR. If someone had told me that 8 races into the season JGR would have 0 wins and no driver in the top 10, I would have asked wtf were you smoking.
Ditto on Jr. The way things are going now he won't even make Chase. That would really suck for his final season (and for NASCAR)..

Re: 2017 NASCAR Thread
Yeah, he was the first name that came to mind for replacing Jr, but apparently he is very close to Chip Ganassi and would likely be countered if he got an offer he couldn't refuse from HMS. Keselowski is the biggest 2018 free agent, so I would expect Penske to extend him soon like they just did Logano.
At the end of the day, I think the familiar face of Alex Bowman may end up back in the 88.

Re: 2017 NASCAR Thread
Like I said earlier, I was hoping Jr would race a couple more seasons after this season, and maybe have William Byron out of the Junior Motorsports stable replace him. Unreal as an 18 yr old rookie in Trucks last season with 7 wins. An engine failure in the round of 6 cost him a shot at the title. Getting him from Kyle Busch Motorsports was a major coup..Thank goodness Edwards didn't announce his retiremement several months earlier. Otherwise Byron would be racing for JGR in the #19 Xfinity car, taking over for Suarez instead of Matt Tift, and wouldn't have been hired away from JGR to drive the #9 Junior Motorsports Xfinity car. Byron is doing great as a rookie in Xfinity, currently in 2nd place. I don't think he'll be ready for Cup by next year. Maybe 2019..93henfan wrote:Yeah, he was the first name that came to mind for replacing Jr, but apparently he is very close to Chip Ganassi and would likely be countered if he got an offer he couldn't refuse from HMS. This article mentions Byron, Bowman, Edwards (already eliminated). Also mentions several others (Biffle, Davis Ragan, Regan Smith) who could keep the season warm for a season for Byron until 2019. Heck, if just one season maybe Elliott Sadler (he'll be 42 in 4 days), the current Xfinity points leader for Junior Motorsports..
