Tonight is the annual Crab and Tri-Tip Feed fundraiser for the Sirens, but I couldn't afford both that and season tickets, so I chose to get season tickets instead. Too bad. Each year at the Crab Feed (they added the tri-tip option last year and continued it this year), the Sirens introduce the new crop of rookies. They will likely also make a big deal of our prodigal WR-DB, who's been in Reno the last three seasons (the first of which was a year of hiatus for the Sirens) playing for the team there, and coaching football at Reno HS. She's been selected as an alternate for Team USA at the Women's World Championship in Canada this summer. I believe the Sirens are continuing with last year's coaching staff, which included an offensive coordinator whose third cousin is the immortal Danny White.
The season kicks off next Saturday at Sacramento-John F. Kennedy HS as the Sirens host the Phoenix Phantomz. I have no idea what the rest of the season looks like, as both the Sirens' website AND the IWFL website both still show last year's schedule. SMH.
I AM excited to see some good football, though. Go Sirens!

Season tickets are $40; there are usually 4 home games.
The fundraiser tickets (I think) were $50 for crab only, $55 for tri-tip only, or $60 for both. Tri-tip only MAY have been $50, though. I miss the days of Bunco fundraisers with a $20 buy-in. One year, I was actually in a 3-way tie for most losses, but then proceeded to lose the roll-off to the then-starting quarterback....

Next year we'll take up a collection for you.

Last night, the Sirens walloped the North County (San Diego) Starz 48-6. The Starz feature a TE/MLB reminiscent of Cam Newton in that commercial where he plays against 6-year-olds, and she plays like it. (She's also HC of a boys HS team in San Diego.) Fortunately for us, she's pretty much all they have, so we were able to contain her to OCCASIONAL offensive outbursts, including their one touchdown. We spread the ball around fairly well, including a 44-yard TD pass to my favorite WR, who literally ran away from the CB like a robber getting away from the bank.
At least we're back in our winning ways after getting skunked in Utah last week; many of our starters were unable to make that trip. Next week is our return game against the Carson (Los Angeles) Bobcats, and we close out the home season 13 MAY against the Utah Falconz. One last road game comes 27 MAY at the Nevada (Reno) Storm. Hopefully, we get a decent playoff seeding so we can avoid the Falconz.
Pacific Division Standings
Utah 2 0 1.000 95 0
Sac 3 1 .750 118 62
Nevada 0 2 .000 0 67

We're not talking some dime-a-dozen sand crabs here.

Well it better be bigger than a lobster and twice as good! And drawn butter.

I was thinking the same thing - I'll kick in $10 for the Sirens Feed Fund for Casey
