You don’t win MVP awards in April, but you can sure put some distance between yourself and the rest of the field with the kinds of performances Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper has turned in over the past few days.

Harper leads the majors in batting average (.407) and on-base percentage (.521) and ranks second to Eric Thames in slugging percentage (.864). Harper's slugging percentage is 50 points higher than his 2016 OPS.

Nats are just fookin stoopd right now. Murphy 3 run HR to put the Nats up 9-2 against the second best team in the NL as of today. They put up 15 against them last night. Can't wait for first Nats/Cubs series. :thumb:

It is early, but it's hard not to get excited.

Harper: .432, 22 RBI, 7 HR
Zimmerman: .387, 21 RBI, 8 HR
Murphy .330, 22 RBI, 4 HR
Turner: .326, 11 RBI, 2 HR (only 11 games)
Eaton: .375 OBP as the lead off guy

Throw in Worth, Weiters, Rendon... very potent offense.

The Nats look like a blend of the 2001 Seattle Mariners and just about any recent version of the Washington Caps. 8-)

With 16 runs on the board yesterday at Colorado, the Washington Nationals now have scored 14 or more four times already this season. The other 29 teams have combined for six.

Oh bullshit! There's no way the other 29 teams have only scored six runs so far this year.

Maybe the Braves.

Orioles blow 9-1 lead to Yankees and lose 14-11.

I guess the first two words of that sentence would have sufficed.

Five. Nats put up 23 runs on the Mets yesterday, including 3HR and 10 RBI from Anthony Rendon. :notworthy: That sure took the sting off losing Eaton for the season. Dbags coming into town so we get to see #1 team in runs vs #2 team in runs in MLB. If you like offense, should be fun.

Mets pitching did worse than Rockies against the Nats, D.C. Looking tough.

As bad as that one game was, the Mets actually won the Nats series. Few bright spots this season for them but the series win I guess is one.

The Tigers are having trouble with this whole "bullpen" thing. Again. It's hard to contend when your closer is 1-4, has an ERA of 8.49 with 4 blown saves in 11 opportunities.

When is JD coming back? A month ago, I heard he was taking practice swings.

He started his rehab assignment in Lakeland last Friday. I haven't seen any timetable on when he'll be back though.

Only when they're winning, just like all New York sports fans (except for the Yankees).

I'm not a Mets fan, although it was the 1969 Mets that got me interested in baseball.
I'm a Yankees fan..........and I'm laughin' at the Cubs right now.

I am a suffering Mets and Jets fan (always have been).

Not quite sure why people are saying that it is a dumpster fire this year. They were playing like crap and already have had tons of injuries but are only 2.5 outside a Wild Card spot having just won 3 straight series including 1 over the Nats and going 6-3 in that stretch. Sure the Harvey thing sucks but better to take care of that crap now and he is back for his next start.

If you want to look at teams going to crap right now, look at the SF Giants and the Blue Jays. Both supposed to be pretty strong and both have records that are horrible.

Matt Harvey
Teammates/Manager vs. Matt Harvey
Snydergaard on 60-day DL
Cespedes
23 runs
Collins as manager (see above)
4.74 ERA, 27th in NL (out of 30)
.230 AVG, 25th in MLB (out of 30)

I don't think it's a far stretch to call this team a dumpster fire when many people picked them to win the NL East.
