This week, Adams State, a D-II school in Colorado, became the first NCAA school in history to award a football scholarship to a girl. Basha (AZ) HS kicker Becca Longo signed her Letter of Intent this week. She plans to be a two-sport athlete, also signing a LOI to play hoops for the Grizzlies.

Adams State is coached by former Phoenix Cardinals QB and Eastern Washington OC Timm Rosenbach.

Rosenbach is also a Missoula native, but—just like John Friesz—finished high school elsewhere.

I'd let her kick my balls, if you catch my drift.

Nice publicity stunt, primary thing is women's hoops. Anything she does as a kicker is a bit no.

She's getting football scholarship money from a division with limited scholarships, so it has to be more than just a publicity stunt. She only attempted 1 field goal (good from 30) because her HS team was one of those "go for it on 4th. down every time" type-of teams, but she did go 30/33 on PATs—that's a better percentage than what 4 Big Sky teams had this past season.

From the practice video I saw on YT she can't go from much more than that.

Also the fact they signed a locker with 1 FG attempt shows it's a publicity deal.

Adams State kicked 8 FG all last year and were 2-8 overall.

Not sure how effective she'll be at Hoops. She only averaged 2.9 points per game, .6 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 turnovers.

What a waste of a perfectly good scholarship.

Eh, her in-game PAT footage suggests she could hit from 40-45. If she can do that consistently, it would be pretty good for DII.

Basha High is one of the better programs in Arizona - my godson was a four-year starter there a few years back.
