Hendrick Motorsports announced Tuesday that Dale Earnhardt Jr. will retire at the conclusion of the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season.

In a press release from Hendrick Motorsports, it was revealed that Earnhardt broke the news to his team Tuesday after first discussing it with team owner Rick Hendrick on March 29.

First the Rainbow Warrior, now Junior. Is Jimmie Johnson next? NASCAR needs some new stars.

This is a surprise to nobody. His heart was never in it. A tremendously disappointing career, IMHO, and a big reason for diminished NASCAR viewership.

He was the bloodline and southern boy who could have picked up the baton and run with it. Instead you got California boy Johnson and his milquetoast personality dominating the sport and exciting nobody while doing it.

Time for fans to jump on the bandwagon of another southern driver.

Southern Jersey, that is.

Wasn't his first year in Winston series the year Dale, Sr died? Maybe that has a lot to do with it.

He started XFinity (then Busch Grand National) in '96 and Winston Cup in '99. Sr died in '01.

Grabbing dollar bills.

He's pretty good at it, hence the $350M net worth.

I'd let him grab me for 1% of that.

I don't know what this means.
So I'm just gonna assume that you're gay.

Lewis Black (CC for Cluck: He's an angry comic) makes that joke about the Enron/World Comm execs. He says with the amount of money they stole, he'd hired a beautiful young woman at $100k/yr, full benefits and she'd be his ball washer. Always in front of him, washing and rinsing.

Wait. Are you still gay then?

Of course.
I wasn't even going to acknowledge his post, cuz I thought it was a done deal.

He's been on the record as balls-across-the-nose queer for a few years now, no? I'm with bandle. No homo.
