2017 NBA Free Agency

Next phase of the off-season coming into focus for the NBA. Not quite free agency, per se, but CP3 to the Rockets in a 4 for 1 trade. Have to figure the Rockets are looking for more help as just a back court of Harden and CP3 won't go far with nothing else.

If it's to clear the way for Lowry that'd be a good move.

I'm hoping the Kings sign E. Johnson. Will probably NEVER happen, though, seeing as how he's the head honcho of another team. SMH....

Timberwolves are in the running for Paul Millsap. That would put Gorgi on the bench.

Wolves bout to be the 5 seed in the west and could be the 1 in the east. Fuck.

Sixers going to make the playoffs in the east simply because all the fucking talent is now in the west.

Sixers pick up JJ Reddick and Amir Johnson, all the while competition in the East (Pacers, Hawks, Bulls) are entering rebuild mode and the top teams (Celtics, Cavs, Raptors, Wizards) are staying the same. Playoffs this year for the Sixers, and start challenging for the conference the following year or so. Trust the Process.

Utah then swaps Rubio to Texas straight up for Ted Cruz.

That's not the process working. That's the rest of the east getting crushed by the west in free agency

Nonsense. What's really been crushed? Paul George went to OKC and Jimmy Butler went to Minnesota and Millsap went to Denver. With Paul George Indiana was the 8th seed in the East, and with him going to the Lakers next year anyway he was not staying with the Pacers past this year anyhow. Butler and the Bulls were the 7th seed in the East this year. Millsap and the Hawks were the 5th seed. The Pacers and the Bulls, before any of this, weren't going to be any better next year than they were last year. They were both on the way down anyway, and these moves just speed that descent downward. But both teams were already teams that the Sixers were going to be better than.
The Sixers have their potential weakness - i.e. injury. If Embiid can't play most of the year then they're in trouble. I'm not terribly concerned about Simmons - his injury wasn't a chronic or repeat injury - he broke a foot, once, that's not an ongoing concern. The Sixers will have a starting 5 of Fultz, Simmons, Reddick, Embiid, and Saric, with a bench of Johnson, Okafor, Covington, McConnell, Holmes, Bayless, TLC, Furkan, Stauskus, and Justin Anderson. That's a quality starting 5 and a deep bench. That is the Process (caps please) working.

Timberwolves could still possibley signe a couple more, Miles or Dunleavy Jr are a couple names being mentioned. Would need to clear cap room. Already released Muhammad, could trade Aldrich.

What specifically do you mean by challenge for the conference? Do you see them being able to beat out the Celtics, Raptors or Wizards (or Cavs if LBJ stays) in a series in 2 years?
Remember that Embiid and Stauskas will be restricted free agents and Redick, Covington, and Johnson will be unrestricted after next season. All could costs some extra money to re-sign.
Not saying it won't happen but tough to say that a team will be a conference contender when they haven't had a better than .500 record for a full 82 game season since 2004-2005. Playoffs sure as you can make playoffs with a sub .500 record.

Celtics still have a lot of "capitol" to send on improvements. Danny Angie is being very closed mouth about what the teams goals are as far as acquiring talent but even without adding big names they should get better each year as well.

Never has the talent discrepancy between the east and west been higher.

First of all, Stauskas is a bench player at best, him being a restricted free agent next year is not going to be the difference between winning and not winning. As for the others, no biggie - heck, the Sixers are still worried about spending enough money this year just to get to the league minimum in terms of spending - there's no team in the NBA that has more cap space than the Sixers do at this point. Redick and Johnson were signed to one year deals specifically to give the Sixers flexibility going forward. They'll likely re-up Embiid this year. And I'm not terribly concerned with how things have been done before and how other teams have improved - this is the The Process, it's already unique, so why try to compare it to things done differently? And yes, in 2 years they could very well beat out the likes of the Raptors or Wizards in a series. The Celtics will be the top team to beat in the East in two years so the target will have to be them. Could be a great series of years of Celtics/Sixers rivalry being rekindled.
