After last night Giancarlo Stanton had 44 home runs in 116 games. In 1961, Roger Maris had 44 home runs in 116 games. Stanton is on pace to tie or break the records. Maris hit 4 home runs in the next 3 games, but Stanton has the natural power to keep pace or even pass it. If Stanton continues on his recent pace, he could tie or break the steroid era record of 73 home runs.

Since 2002, when A-Roid hit 57 dingers, has a player hit 55 or more home runs. Ryan Howard in 2006, had 58. Apparently Steroids must have helped with the power surge.

Hoskins now has 16 HR's in 32 games. Pace has slowed down to a season projection of 81 HR's. Still good ratio with the walks/strikeouts as well - 23 walks to 26 strikeouts.
