Roger Bannister RIP 3-3-18

He was the first man under 4:00 in the 1 Mile Run 3:59.4 he was 88 he died 20 days short of his birthday 3-23-29 I heard this on sports radio WFAN(NY).

And he considered his greatest contributions in life to be the 40 year career he had as a neurologist. Quite an accomplished man.

I was happy to get anywhere close to 5:00 back in my track days. Sub 4:00 is just insane, despite how many times it's happened since.

I PRed at 6:02 senior year, and I'll never see that again....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

There was talk of a guy who beat Bannister to this feat named Landy.
