I keep see people saying this on Facebook about Sergio and I only saw Tin Cup once (it was that bad) but wasn't Costner's character going for a par 5 in two over water with a 3 wood rather a short wedge shot Sergio couldn't hit deep enough, low enough, or take enough spin off of?

:ugeek:
I believe the FIRST ball in the water he was going for it in two...It was a long iron which came up a bit short of the pin (on the slope) and rolled back into the water). He went up and dropped at a “comfortable” distance and proceeded to put the next four in with tons of spin.
Wouldn’t a Tin Cup be to keep hitting the long iron?

I thought it was bullshit that a ball that comes that close to stopping, then picks up speed, and rolls into a hazard is way too penal. I felt like he thought the same thing, but the closest he came to saying it was something like "all of those shots were good shots".

I remember John Daly complaining about Pinehurst No. 2 with the "turtle back" greens at the US Open in the 90's. I didn't think much of it until I played the course. My playing partner chipped onto the green from the front and it got to within 10 feet of the hole only to roll back and go into a sand trap. It's one thing to roll away from the hole, or even off the green, but to roll into a hazard, after nearly coming to rest, is a bit much. :twocents:
Sergio definitely was biting his tongue, but seriously, after the SECOND ball in the water, you don’t change your **** approach? You follow it up with three more identical shots that ALL go into the water? :dunce:
Rumor is he was heard mumbling Rata Farts !!!

Early numbers from Round 2 look ugly. 33 players on the course so far and only 1 is under par.
Might be a tough day today.

What's the phrase - a bad day on the course is better than a good day at the office?

Unless the course IS your office, I guess.

Spieth double bogeyed the 1st hole. As of right now, Sergio is only 3 shots from the cut line.

Yes. In the movie he was confident he could make the shot. Apparently Sergio couldnt make EITHER shot. :x

And bogies the 2nd to fall to 3 under. I would love Sergio to go out and shoot a 66 and make the cut

Well, all 5 made the cut, and Watson is 8th.

But I'm rooting for Reed.

You've seen it once, so your input on this matter is worthless. When you watch it 20+ times, then you can comment. :ugeek:

Don’t forget Bagger Vance. Greatest game ever played is a very under rated movie. Sergio did a great Tin Cup Thursday.

You’re missing some great golf from people who can ACTUALLY play still.
