These are the dumb phrases that you are not allowed to yell at this years Masters.

Just been told security staff at Augusta National have been handed a sheet with a list of sayings that are prohibited. I'm told "dilly dilly" is one of them. Patrons who shout out these phrases will be "removed" immediately. #themasters
Last month, Sergio Garcia had a fan ejected; Rory McIlroy said he needed ibuprofen after being in a group with Tiger because of his exuberant fans. McIlroy also had a fan ejected for repeatedly shouting “Erica,” his wife’s name.
“It’s gotten a little much,” McIlroy said afterwards.

The Masters is the one place they can certainly enforce something like this. If you have a weekly badge and get kicked out, they pull your badge and the owner of that badge loses it for life.

Who the fuck would yell Baba Booey or Mashed Potatoes? What kind of people go to these events?

Why are golfers such pussys when it comes to sounds? Imagine telling fans in an enclosed arena like basketball that they must be silent when a player is lining up a free throw...

If you've never played competitive golf, you wouldn't get it (I'm saying that sincerely). Golf is far more exacting than basketball (or really any other sport). And if everyone at the golf event were yelling, it wouldn't be as bothersome as one shout in the silence. Think of it as farting at a NASCAR race vs farting in church.

Golf isn't a sport. It's an activity -- and a pretty useless one at that.

Agreed. It can't be a sport if you need a 'safe space' to participate. Bunch of snowflakes.

Why didn’t “get in the hole!” make the list?
I agree with 89.
And tennis.

Yeah, I'll bite....
One of the most popular events on tour and and the exception to the rule:
I actually think golf needs more of this. There's a vocal minority of purist curmudgeons that don't, but bluetooth speakers in carts, music piped to the driving range at less traditional facilities, and encouraged heckling events like horse races and Muni Madness are gaining popularity and helping the game.
As for whether it's a sport, that comment is only made by simpletons who never played or who tried it a few times and weren't coordinated or athletic enough to meet their own expectations of how easy it should be.

"You think you're so cool, Danny" would be a good one.

Or “ Well, we’re waiting!”
Or “na na na na na”
Or “ it’s in the hole!”

Hey you scratched my anchor!
A 4 hour walk is more of an athletic effort than 12 minutes of play, 6 minutes on each side of the ball in an NFL game.

It's a custom for individual sports (golf, tennis, bowling, etc.). It's not customary to root against an individual.
It makes sense in a way. While there are individuals that you like more than others, it's not the same level as the allegiance for a team.

I get nervous hitting a tee shot with just the rest of my foursome watching. God help me if we get backed up and I have to hit in front of several groups.
Maybe it's all the quiet side betting on which patch of woods I'll end up in from my errant shot.

That's why a lot of golfers drink beer on the course. And after beer, it you get used to people talking and stuff, when you are in your back swing.

A 4 hour walk is more of an athletic effort than 12 minutes of play, 6 minutes on each side of the ball in an NFL game.
Or at least Baseball. In collegiate tournaments, you arrive for a practice round on Sunday, walk 36 on Monday, and another 18 Tuesday morning. That's 24-38 miles of walking in less than 48 hours with 40 lbs on your back plus 100's of swings as well as lunges and squats every time you tee it up, mark your ball, repair a ball mark, etc. A study out of Colorado a few years back estimated 6-8 miles and 1400 calories burned in a typical 18 holes of walking.
Tim Herron, Craig Stadler, or Bruce Lietzke notwithstanding.

Well, no one is trying to hit you on your 4 hour walk. That's a difference.

Actually, I played for several years but only because my father forced me to. He finally figured out I really didn't like the game when I took a sledgehammer to my clubs.

For 6 minutes a game.
