You guys never played Marshall and Moss?BDKJMU wrote:In 2008 then #7 JMU hosted then #3 UMASS. (JMU was the #1 seed & a semifinalist that year). JMU beat UMASS 52-38 but could not stop Cruz. Cruz had 13 receptions for 262 Yds, 2TDs. Just ridiculous. Never saw any WR do do even close to that in any JMU games, JMU or opponents. And I’ve seen JMU face some NFL 1st round draft pick WR over the years in Hakeem Nicks & Tavon Austin, along with a bunch of other touted P5 WR who were draft picks. Cruz was the best WR I ever saw JMU play against.
Agreed, Victor was a fine WR, but not in the same conversation as Moss - just a different level entirely.93henfan wrote:You guys never played Marshall and Moss?BDKJMU wrote:In 2008 then #7 JMU hosted then #3 UMASS. Nov 30, 1996 (playoffs) vs Delaware: 8 catches, 288 yds, 3 TDs
I still vividly remember watching that game on TV. Not only was Moss a freak, but the green and white striped socks he wore just made it even more comical as he was high stepping it down the field looking back at our midgets. The Delaware DBs were just like, “what time are they serving dinner. We out.”GannonFan wrote:Agreed, Victor was a fine WR, but not in the same conversation as Moss - just a different level entirely.93henfan wrote:

That was around that Dr. Seuss fad all the kids were getting into then - Randy was just following the sock fad of that. Randy was a freak of nature, not much you can do about that.93henfan wrote:I still vividly remember watching that game on TV. Having spent two hours with him in Canton in June, I think he could still play if he chose to. The guy is still in phenomenal shape and can still jump a few feet into the air. He can throw a decent football too. I never knew that until I was watching him almost break kids’ (including my own) fingers.GannonFan wrote:That was around that Dr. Seuss fad all the kids were getting into then - Randy was just following the sock fad of that. JMU lost @ Marshall in the 1994 quarterfinals in OT. Moss got to Marshall (via FSU, via Notre Dame) in 1996.93henfan wrote:You guys never played Marshall and Moss?BDKJMU wrote:In 2008 then #7 JMU hosted then #3 UMASS.
