Good luck!

Yeah, I like the trade. I don't see the SIxers making this move if Simmons and Embiid weren't on board with it, and I think those two guys are much better equipped to handle Butler than KT ever was. Sixers need that killer instinct late in games, and a guy who can really defend late in games, and Butler could be that. Trade was good in that the Sixers didn't give up anything that can't be replaced - I've never cared for Covington, always thought his defense was overrated and he wasn't a clutch shooter, and while I like Saric, his game is replaceable now with what we have with Chandler. Butler gives them a third potential stud player - that's something worth trading for.

Bulls fans were glad to get rid of Butler, now the Timberwolves fans are glad to get rid of Butler. Hey, maybe he found a place where he can be happy without being a drama queen.

If Embiid and Simmons can't (heck, throw JJ in there too) can't handle him then he's not destined to be happy anywhere. I find it hard not liking being a Sixer at this point - playing alongside a budding MVP in Embiid, a do everything but shoot from 10ft out in Simmons, a sniper like JJ, a bunch of role players, and a great basketball environment - and they apparently have one helluva practice facility now. It's as good as it gets, or very close to it, in the NBA. If he can't enjoy this then his therapist will have plenty to work with.

Timberwolves are now a half game out of the playoff top 8. They'll have to prove themselves against San Antonio, Boston and Houston this week.

Timberwolves fire Thibs because of the Jimmy Butler fiasco, and the Wolves losing to teams they should beat. Flip Saunders son Ryan Saunders becomes the youngest coach in the NBA at 32.

Is Jimmie really causing problems in Philly?

Link

“Around the [Philadelphia 76ers] organization, there’s an urgency for [Brett] Brown and his coaching staff to stabilize the situation,” according to a report today by ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski. But which situation is that? You’re not gonna believe this, but it’s the situation of Jimmy Butler—reportedly!—behaving like an abrasive cheesebutt who can’t get along with even a single other human being under any circumstances.

Crazy busy time in the NBA - Sixers are transformed from what they were just two months ago. After the Fultz trade today, Sixers starting five are:

Simmons
Embiid
Butler
Harris
Redick

Pretty good right there. Bench is filled out now:

Boban (first name only, big, goofy, Eastern European dude)
Scott (from the Harris trade too)
Ennis
J Simmons (from Fultz trade)
And still have TJ, Korkmaz, Bolden, Patton (included in Butler trade)

Doesn't even include Zahir Smith (first round pick, going through Sixers first round pick mandatory injury this year) and Shake Milton.

Other teams in the East got better too - Pacers will get Wesley Matthews after the buyout, Raptors traded for Paul Gasol, Bucks got Mirotic. Should be a great stretch run and looks like the top 4 teams in the East (Raptors, Celtics, Sixers, and Bucks) are looking at a bruising two rounds of the playoffs in the East come playoff time.

Well the Sixers looked great in their first 2 games post-trade deadline. Scary to think if they all stay healthy what they'll look like come playoff time when they're all on the same page.

The final damage from the Markelle Fultz mistake:

Sixers lose:
#3 overall pick in 2017 (Jayson Tatum)
1st round pick in 2019 (TBD - currently #14 overall based on standings)

Sixers gain:
Jonathon Simmons (undrafted, career 8.5 ppg)
OKC 2020 1st rounder (likely mid 20s overall)
Cleveland 2019 2nd rounder (currently 33rd overall)

OUCH! The Sixers really whiffed on that one.

Absolutely it's a fail, and I fail I put right at the feet of Bryan Colangelo and the NBA for forcing the Sixers to get rid of Hinkie and to hire the NBA insider that Colangelo was. Monumental fail, and luckily, with all the stuff that Hinkie had already set up, and with the ability of Brand to fix the mess Colangelo made, the Sixers have come out of this still looking really good and with a legitimate chance to win NBA titles over the next half a decade. Fultz's personality flaws should've been noticed (as Boston did notice) before investing so much in him. Like I said, though, it's a credit to Hinkie and Brand that they've managed to overcome this.
