The Philadelphia 76ers just learned that a high-pressure situation like the NBA Playoffs can cause the body to do weird things, like dropping stink bombs on the bench.
Midway through the fourth quarter of Thursday night's game between the 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets, TNT's camera cut to the bench for a glimpse of Philadelphia star Joel Embiid, who was out with a knee injury. But instead of finding Embiid and teammates deep in thought, the camera found a group of players reeling from what was probably one hell of a bad fart.
Zhaire Smith, on the far left, can be seen waving away the odious air before it reaches Embiid (gray blazer and white shirt) who can only pull the old shirt-as-gas-mask approach to protect himself.
The suspected fart didn't affect the outcome as the 76ers easily beat the Nets 131-115 to take a 2-1 series lead. But it definitely lingered online where Twitter had a field day.
OK, I'm officially lost.JALMOND wrote:Weber State and Lehigh in the house!!! And looking good!UNI88 wrote:Rip City, 2nd row! Heckuva welcome to Portland!

The Nets need a big man to deal with Embiid the Sixers smoked them without trying.Ivytalk wrote:Sixers lay a steaming turd against Brooklyn. Nets in five. Scott Brown gone.

Raptors have had the Sixers’ number lately. Toronto in 6.bluehenbillk wrote:Eastern semis - basketball will get real good now. We'll see what the Sixers really have, or don't have.
Well, you did have the Nets in 5 for the first round...Ivytalk wrote:Raptors have had the Sixers’ number lately. Toronto in 6.bluehenbillk wrote:Eastern semis - basketball will get real good now. We'll see what the Sixers really have, or don't have.

In the long run, you never lose money betting against Philadelphia sports teams. — Murphy’s Law #6.93.GannonFan wrote:Well, you did have the Nets in 5 for the first round...Ivytalk wrote:

Certainly a tough series, but it's a tough series for the Raptors as well. For me, the big keys are Ben not coughing the ball up (he's had turnover issues against Khawai before), and Harris and Butler stepping up and being the scorers the Sixers need them to be. But like most NBA playoff games, it's going to come down to the last 5 minutes and it will be whether you can keep scoring in that last 5 minutes while getting some stops on the defensive end in that same timeframe. I like the Sixers chances in this one, they have the horses to get this done, now it's a matter of performing. I think Butler has a great series. Fingers crossed on that!
