Hopefully Flaggy doesn't see this. If he goes to DC, I'm going to vomit.

Eagles. As brittle as Wentz is, they can’t afford to let Foles go...

Zactly. And Foles isn’t exactly Lou Gehrig or Cal Ripken (or even Brett Favre) durability-wise out there, so they might want to give Sudfeld a few more reps next season.

The salary cap is ~$180M, with a small bump to maybe $190M next season. The Eagles aren't going to pay $20M (Foles' option) for a backup. I wish there was a way to keep Foles, but he deserves a starter salary next year, and it just makes no sense to pay a backup QB on a 53-man roster 11% of your salary cap.
The only two ways to keep Foles would be to trade Wentz or basically to hamper your roster for 2019 by keeping both - neither attractive. Foles' salary can get you three or four impact free-agents elsewhere on the roster, so if you keep him, you're basically throwing away 2019 for a test of Wentz's health and audition for your QB going forward in 2020, when Wentz is due a new deal. Plus, having Foles on the bench is instant QB controversy in Philly every time Wentz throws an incompletion.
Listening to WIP a lot with my shut down time, the various trade scenarios hatched by callers is pretty funny to listen to. Some of the wilder ones: Wentz to NYG for Barkley and a first round pick. That could haunt us for a decade and more.

They just paid him $1 he didn’t “officially” earn....think they would do that and then not resign him?

I believe you meant to type $1M. He was four plays short of a contract clause that triggered a $1M payment and he missed it when he re-hurt his ribs against the Redskins in Week 17. They went ahead and paid him anyway, and that was the right thing to do. It was a paying it backward, not forward, for bringing Philadelphia its first Super Bowl. It has no bearing on 2019.
Now, Foles absolutely loves Philadelphia, but I don't think he loves enough to burn $8M, because the only way I see him staying is if he renegotiated his option from $20M down to about $12M. That would keep the Eagles' combined QB payroll at $21M (Wentz $8.5M and Sudfeld $630K).

I’m betting he renegotiates....

Um...
Foles has $20 million, $29 million and $29.6 million base salaries in 2019, 2020 and 2021...
The Eagle will use the "Transition Tag" on Foles
Write that down...
and they're without question working on that right now

So you think Foles won't get a $20M offer elsewhere? I'm guessing he will, so that doesn't change anything I said previously for the Eagles -- same cap quandary. The Skins can't afford it because of the dead hits from Alex Smith, but Jax and Miami can.

I don't think it will happen, but I'd love to see Pastor Nick starting in Dallas next season....
