It really all depends on the health of a certain "Dakota-strong" ginger. Fingers crossed.

In other Eagles news, Lane Johnson agrees to restructure his contract for cap health.

And then makes a dick joke about Foles  :

So you are saying we could see a repeat of Eagle fans eating road apples?

Bennett starts collecting Social Security this year! He was pretty good on the third of the snaps be played last year though.

As far as cap, the Eagles are clearing space for either extending Wentz, if he can get through a whole season, or on their next QB. Neither will be cheap. Plus picks and FA's.

Currently, the Eagles are $28.5M under their 2019 cap after getting rid of Bennett's $7.2M salary and adding back $570K for current #51 salary on the roster. Their rollover for 2018 is expected to be $6M, so they're probably going to end up approaching $34.5M under the cap going into free agency and the draft. Not bad for a team that was $15M over the cap going into the offseason. Howie worked his magic. Figure $5-7M getting the draft class signed and you still have close to $30M for free agents.

And this is all before decisions are made on Agholor or Peters, which could free up another $19M this year. :thumb: Expect an elite RB, a rusher, and an inside LB to be picked up in FA.

Well that's a positive outlook on things...

Not sure where they're going to get the 9 sacks they just let walk but they should be fine

Don't get me wrong, I liked Bennett (other than the elderly abuse). But he ain't gettin' no younger.

Eagles pick up Malik Jackson, DT, former pro-bowler from Jacksonville. 3yrs, $30M. I'm never worried about Howie being able to manage the cap.

PFF Rated him in the bottom half of DT against the run
(nobody would argue he's a run stuffer)
and he had 3.5 sacks last season

I can't figure out what he does for his big money..?
never finished a season in his career with over 40 tackles
for $10 Mil a year..?

Chris Long - who nobody cares about - out performed Malik Jackson (per snap) in every metric

also - You can draft a guy that can do that for $800K
Howie is a magician - no doubt - but this won't move the needle in the actual "game" on the field
I'm guessing it's a back loaded deal and he'll get released before they have to pay him in the 3rd year

Production will go up when he plays next to Fletcher Cox next year. I think I could be a productive DT playing alongside Fletcher Cox.

Eagles also just resigned Jason Peters for another year on a renegotiated contract (less of a cap hit). The magic continues.

Now that is a fantastic pick-up
The Malik Jackson signing was for a little too much money
but they will talk DeSean down to a nice range

This is a win for Philly

Love it, love it, love it. Dude is a pure burner and carries a swagger stick. He's been through hell, playing in the NFL wastelands of Washington and Tamp Bay. Welcome back to a winner, and where you started!

$9M/yr avg for 3 years; $13M guaranteed. Eagles trade a 6th rounder for a 7th and DJax. What's not to like?

Agreed,
He'll be completely rejuvenated
He'll do nicely in keeping the safeties from crashing down and doubling the Tight End

He did indeed, playing opposite Von Miller who was amassing double digit sack totals
Mailk has played along side some of the best pass rushers in the NFL in Denver and Jacksonville
and in that time he's averaged 4.5 sacks a season which is fine
but he is scored as a "below average" run stopper...
so again: What's he do exactly..?

Half his snaps might come on the edge with Philly... Schwartz might get him dialed in (we'll see)

Eagles free up another $5M of cap space with redoing Long's and Bradham's contracts. Howie just creating cap space at the snap of a finger.
