The 6 yr contract with Charlotte is up and with a new owner there have been rumors coming out about what's happening with the team.

Rumor 1) Building a new stadium on the the NC/SC state line. I doubt that'll happen. Charlotte only leased the land but Richardson built the stadium. And that would just be too costly. I think renovations are more in line, like upgrading/adding seats. Clemson's Memorial Stadium has more seats.

Rumor 2) Bank of America stadium will get a roof. THis is to help bring MLS, more concerts and championship series/games. They are thinking of getting a Final Four game - hosted in the stadium.

Rumor 3) Treppen is going to help bring a MLS team to Charlotte. There was a big push for this last year but it failed. Maybe Treppen can use the MLS expansion in the negotiations with Charlotte.

Rumor 4) Move the practice fields and HQ - possibly something like what the Cowboys have. This is looking like it'll happen and be built in South Carolina, roughly 18 mi away. Here are the current practice fields: Image.

I actually hope this will happen because:
A) it'll be great for York County, where I live;
B) it'll be a few miles from house;
C) help make the team reach more into SC. Right now it's a joke that it's " Two States, 1 Team". They aren't. They have spring training in Spartanburg but that's it. In the 3 years i've lived in the upstate, i've NEVER seen or heard the Panthers coming into SC to do anything other than train or drive through to get to a game.
D) there's talk that Treppen will demand light rail service be extended in SC. This would be huge as it'll bring the rail within 5 miles of my house. I would use the hell out of that as would all the people that live in SC and travel into CLT each day. Charlotte transit already runs buses to and from Rock Hill every day.

Wofford has benefitted greatly from the Panthers organization and Id be happy to see them pull out of there

Yes

But ask any other SoCon fan of any other team (firmun especially) and they will likely agree

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Colin Kaepernick’s attorney suggested on Saturday in an interview with CNN that the Carolina Panthers would be a potential landing spot for the veteran quarterback now that his collusion grievance with the NFL has been settled.

"I’m going to make a bold prediction that one of three teams picks him up," said Kaepernick’s attorney Mark Geragos, citing the Panthers, New England Patriots and one other team he didn’t identify. "If Cam Newton is out, then the natural place to be is to play with Eric [Reid] in Carolina. I mean, can you imagine?
God..please no.

Of all the teams in the NFL the Panthers DESERVE Kaepernick more than any other

Just... no.

We already have a drama queen no need to replace him for another

Cam is a much better QB - if he can get healthy then I would prefer he stick around a couple more seasons

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The South Carolina Senate has agreed to provide $120 million in tax breaks to the Carolina Panthers to move their practice fields and team headquarters out of North Carolina.

The 27-15 vote Thursday came after contentious debate with several senators questioning whether public money should be given to a billionaire NFL owner and the $3.8 billion proposed economic benefit of the new facility is wildly exaggerated.

The bill, enthusiastically backed by Gov. Henry McMaster, would exempt the Panthers from paying state income taxes for players, coaches and other employees for 15 years as long as they use the money to build their new complex near Rock Hill.

The team will continue to play games 15 miles (24 kilometers) north in Charlotte, North Carolina.

McMaster is expected to quickly sign the bill.
