Yup, the weekend was the final nail in the coffin, which was already pretty much shut anyway. No fight in these guys down the stretch. Probably end up with 83-86 wins, they'll say they're pointed in the right direction, and head off to their winter homes. Without a heckuva lot of pitching help for next year, could be pretty much the same, with maybe a few more wins.

Would love it if the Phils mailed in the upcoming 5 game set in DC. :thumb:

Every year is the same - the Phils can't muster enough energy and talent to stay in the race the whole year, and the Nats will lose in incredibly painful fashion early in the playoffs. Oh, and the Astros are still good.

83-86 wins? I’ll take the under.

Playing .500 ball from here gets them to 83 wins. That's doable.

But 11 games are on the road against clubs with winning records, and the last 3 are against the Marlins who have bedeviled us all year. I’m saying 81 wins tops.

Nats are in full retrograde. They peaked a little early. :(

Look for the Phils to, now with nothing to play for, be able to beat the Marlins. That would be a typical Phillie move. :ohno:

Yeah, they've been getting smoked. Not just beaten, but smoked, by the real playoff teams. Hats off to the Nats for getting into the playoffs (assuming they even hold on to that), and hats off for being slightly better than the Phillies, but come October both teams will be watching better teams still playing.

The Nats have absolutely nothing for the Braves, but the good news is they won't have to play them. They will lose to the Cubs, Brewers or maybe the Dodgers if we get lucky. I see a WC game where Scherzer or Stras takes them through 8 with a 2 run lead only to watch the bullpen cough it up.

I fully expect if the Nats get in the playoffs they will indeed find an agonizingly brutal way to lose early in the playoffs. It's just what they do.

The next 6 or 7 games for both teams are brutal...
Philadelphia might fall below .500 over that span

Nats officially eliminate the Phils in the afternoon game of a double header. Would be nice if they just mailed in the next four games. :thumb:

Kapler threw in the towel on Sunday night despite his big talk about “winning out.” They should shitcan him next Monday and be done with it.

And Nats clinch with doubleheader sweep and Cubs loss. Not bad for a team that was in DFL in late May.

Paternity Leave is not happy with Nats fans. Imagine that! What a pussy. I'm embarrassed for him, letting weak ass Washington fans get the best of him.

That’s right, as befits denizens of that shythole City, full of teat-sucking politicians, where loyalty lasts only as long as the next change of administration.

If then.

Yikers, they pulled out the "hope your kid has autism" card. Who takes the time to have that thought and then actually send it off to someone you don't even know?

 Yeah, the fanbase is horrible because of a couple social media folks? Please. The Washington fanbase as a whole is far too disinterested to label them classless. :coffee:

That’s because it’s a city of transients, unless you live near the Anacostia River.

BTW...
Bryce Harper wrote:“Like I said the whole time, I’ve got 60,000 fans up in Philly that appreciate [me] as a player, appreciate me as an individual and my family as well,”
So does he think Citizens holds 60,000 or does he think he only has 60,000 fans out of a couple million that actually like him? ;)

BTW part deux...

From what I read, the heckle at the game was "Your son would be disappointed in you." That's not even close to over the line guys if true.
