It's comical how the lazy sports fans and media of the rest of the country will remark about Philadelphia fans booing, but won't say a word when pitcher Jake Arrieta gets a standing ovation after running his own at-bat in the fifth inning to 11 pitches.

Philadelphia fans are honest fans. They'll let you know when you're doing great and they'll let you know when you suck.

It's funny. I had another butthurt Natinals fan hit me up on FB with the same video last Thursday. On TV there was no audible booing, just the typical sigh that every stadium makes when the star strikes out.

But of course the one smartphone that caught the drunk is the one the media seeks out to get the scoop on this alleged chorus of booing from the 45k on hand.

Thanks for proving my point even better than I did earlier. I couldn't do it without you.

Every right to be so. You'd be butthurt too if your team hadn't won a playoff series and watched their superstar go to a place where they hated him, but have now embraced him as if they loved and respected him all along.

I'm not joking that if the Caps signed Sidney Crosby next year I would give up my tickets and never root for them again.

BTW, I am anxious to hear your report tomorrow to see if there are more than two drunk Nats fans booing Harper on his first at bat.

What will happen tomorrow is that the 60-70% of the stadium that is Philadelphia fans will (I think) mostly drown out the boos from the Natinals fans. Philadelphia, as you know, is a far more spirited fan base and it travels well for the Eagles and Phillies especially.

No doubt. The Caps fans have finally displaced most of the visiting fans. Still quite a few when Pens, Flyers and Rangers come, but nowhere close to what it used to be. Redskins are the new old Caps. Stadium is 70% full (on a good day) and more than half of that are visiting fans.

Even though I've been egging you on, there is no doubt that Philly fans are some of the best. The fact that it's so hostile (but in reality not really that much more than NYC, Boston, etc) means that visiting fans think twice about going. What's funny is the amount of people from outside Philly that think it's a negative to have such unwelcoming fans. I see it as a positive for the teams.

Bryce Harper and the Phillies’ sideshow of brazen fans come to Nationals Park tonight.

Expect things to get heated.

The Nationals finally have a real rival. Fourteen years after baseball returned to Washington, the Nats have their version of Redskins-Cowboys.

Washington fans don’t like the Mets, Braves or Marlins, but the games against those NL East foes rarely feel personal.

Nationals versus Phillies feels really personal now, with Harper snubbing Washington by entering free agency and never looking back. Since signing with the Phillies, he never even said goodbye, much less thank the fans who embraced a teenager and cheered him for seven years — even when some of those seasons didn’t deliver on high expectations...

Very tepid booing. Nothing like Scott Rolen booing, or later Jayson Werth booing.

Couldn't stand Scott Rolen. All that talent and zero heart and the personality to match it. He just wanted to go somewhere he could comfortably collect a paycheck and have a career without stress. No heart. Werth was just an airhead. I remember he got picked off second base on a snap throw by the catcher during an intentional walk. Never seen that happen before. He was special.
